Another submission for Fire Nation Week! I confess, I enjoy having prompts like this--it's fun!Today's theme was "Loyalties", so I wanted to portray some of Zuko's conflicting loyalties during season three.

This is perfect because it is a conflict between Iroh and Mai, the ones who love and guide Zuko, and Zuko's own father and sister who used him and want to destroy him.

I like the uncomplicated symbolism there with the father figures and love interests opposed to one another -- and Zuko there in the middle, in living color, experiencing them all.

I didn't intend to portray Azula as a love interest, I just meant that Mai and Azula want/expect different things from him which he feels conflicted about. But feel free to interpret it as you will.

Whoops! No, no, I didn't look at what I'd written. I didn't see it that way, either; I had the thought and didn't think to edit. I didn't realize the implications until you mentioned them. Maybe it should say, "the women who influence him the most."
