Description Apophysis7x v4, experimental plugin used, Internal renderer used 1024*768 4k OS 2 Fr 0.2, post process render used to save 2 layers of same flame with different gamma/brightness/vibrancy settings, layers merged in PSP X (if you don't have that you can use the freee artweaver program to do layers, link in my journal)

I like this.

I've found many things to do with transparent layers. It's fun.

That's cooking with gas! Great technique & very strong result.

So this method makes it qualify as a composite fractal manipulation?
Most impressed, I'll give it a go, altho post-process & me never quite get to tango - inspired by this to apply myself again.

I guess, I don't really consider it a manip, it's just layering the same flame on top of itself
here's an example:
load flame, add background (fill with black and move to bottom), load 2nd version of flame saved from apo's post process (you have to rename the first flame then save it again with different settings and you'll have two renders), load the second flame, copy it, paste that as a new layer on the one with the background added, adjust opacities and settings, soft light, etc, merge it
normally that's the end except for sharpening or whatever you want, what I did was copy the merged pic, undid the merge, then pasted the merged pic as the new background and merged it again

Yes, I understand, I've actually done this in PSCS2 with two flames but not the same flame. I think I consider them compilation manips when the process is like this & the whole flame is not just a single render in Apo. It's a fine line of differentiation and I'm sure purists niggle about what's what. Love the idea of the merged bg & remerge, it certainly gave a strong result.

oh wow, that's an awesomely fractal render, love the colours too! could easily be one of =psion005 's works

having said that, the render quality and resolution could be a bit higher

yeah, that's the first time I tried the built in renderer instead of flam3, didn't turn out as well I don't think, I also got frustrated as the power went out 3 different times while trying to render it so I just used 4k where I normally use 10-20
