Description UF 5.03; RealDrawPRO 5 (the usual suspects)

This is darker than I wanted but all attempts to lighten it made the colors look weird.

Thanks so much. I still think it's a bit too dark but I do like the combination of textures.

Thats what I like best about! It looks really cool and because its dark it draws you in to get a closer look at its brilliance!!!

I think the patterns you used fuse nicely in the image - plus you have smaller metallic shapes and those accent the big spiral perfectly

No need to lighten it - the dark colors are appropriate. I love it!

Thank you. I don't really want it lighter but I'd like it if the shadows were more visible.

Thanks. I borrowed your concept but couldn't get the shadow effect you achieved, probably because this is too dark already.

Tip: If you have the facility to convert this to LAB colour mode and then adjust the histogram levels on the Lightness channel then it is possible to adjust the tonal range and/or brighten an image such as this without substantially altering the colours. I don't know if you can do this in RealDrawPRO (I'm not familiar with this program) but it's a jolly useful trick to have up your sleeve.

A nice design, anyway. I like how it appears you are looking through a window or perhaps into a box of some kind, inside which are these wonderful textured shapes. Nice work.

I've got Photoshop and Gimp but am not really sure how to go about using that feature. I did play around a bit but it still looked washed out if I lightened it. But I really appreciate the input.

Yes, sometimes you need to beef up the saturation a little if the colours turn out a bit pale. It's often a bit of a compromise and sometimes it IS better to just leave it alone.

Deep and dark, like looking into a rocky chasm.

This reminds me of the old Laura Nyro song 'Stoney End'

"Going down the stoney end, I never wanted to go down the stoney end"
