Description THE AIDENUS

In the beginning, the All-Father created the heavens and the worlds.

And from the midst of the waters He called forth the dry lands and named them each; Tunwë, Turing, Tellindar, Tumlar, and Numarë, the whole of which he called Hyar. And it was given to the angels to prepare the lands of Hyar for the living creatures yet to come, so they made for themselves gates of ley and brought gifts from the other worlds: wind, water, stone, and many precious metals. And there was a fertile garden in those lands, which they called Anwë.

Now among the most powerful were these, the ilphaim:

In Numarë; Xuvael of the Many-Worlds, and Mutael who became Mahat-Amar. In Tunwë; Michael, Guardian of the Halls of the Spirit, and Gavriel, Guardian of the Halls of the Living. In Tellindar; Ildrael who is called Tempus, Keeper of the History of the Worlds, and Mariel, Keeper of the Future of the Worlds. In Tumlar; Taozael of the Forge-fires, the Prince of Hands, and Usael of the Waters, the Prince of Words. In Turing; Ozrael, Keeper of the Halls of the Mind, and Astriel of the Lost, who is called The Shepherdess.

And this was the advent of the First-Worlds.

This...this is really deep. Did you base the entire series of comics on the Genesis gap theory?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frail In reply to ARC-1138 [2007-06-02 10:23:57 +0000 UTC]

i don't believe the gap theory
this is something else entirely

i'm currently re-working the text; going to publish as a hardcover art book in nov.

Then...what exactly is this? It seems so familiar, and yet so alien to me at the same time...

just my own fiction. i haven't read paradise lost yet, but there's a bit of it in there, along with dante's inferno, tolkien's silmarillion, the book of enoch, musings on antediluvian civilizations and study notes on the book of genesis

Cool man. Great series, just read the whole thing. I think you should post links up to the nex page and the previous page for each page in your series, because it was kind of hard to follow the thing in order. It would certainly make for easier reading.

I especially love the last frame, where the child's umbelical cord is the limb of a tree or something. It really evokes how man is one with the earth. Beautiful.

where has the story in the description come from?!? Did you write that or get it from a book or what? It makes me want to know more! I love all of your little illustrations! You should get actual books like this published, I would love to have one.

The story is something I'm working on that has it's roots in a lot of different themes. Worm-wood kind of leaves off halfway through the first part of the story, but it continues on for another 30,000 years.

absolutely beautiful words and drawings, jesse. i always love to see your take on things because it is so unique, so individual, that one can get lost upon viewing just one piece at a time, and lost for days and years viewing them all as a collective. such a simple paragraph translated into something so wonderous, makes one sit here and contemplate where the motivation started lacking so that people like you could rise above. it seems that everything has fallen into place now.

ARE YOU FREAKIN' SERIOUS?!!?!

it appears i got you your book back just in time. wow, this is really beautiful. well developed visually. i thought it was quite original in spite of others thoughts. this is the beginning, huh? well, i'll have to come over and you can tell me the rest. this is really good!
i like that the angels were appointed as workers (similar to but not carbon-copied from tolkien's take on creation). while beings of high stature they await and serve some higher purpose. a truly beautiful account. thank you. be up about four-thirty today(thursday) alright?

Very beautiful, I am glad you decided to release it as a whole not by one frame at a time. The story is very good, and the detail put into this series is great. Still love the way in which you present these and just amazed by the thought and skill that is evident here. Favourite.

This took my breath away. I love it. Your piece (as always) is filled with depth, and little pieces of wisdom.

Oh, and the angels . . . wow. I am rarely impressed with their images now, Jesse, but yours are just great (even if they are quite miniscule ).

A favorite, definitely.
