hm, I'd say it's basically collage, several different elements that I wanted to try to compose into a single image. No tremendous secret or fascinating back story I'm afraid. But I'm glad you like it!

I'm faving this one, Francis. The piece is lovely in my eyes. It keeps triggering an odd reaction; I look at it, words fail and tears start.
There was a sudden death in the family in early August, he, too, was a gamer, I haven't been anywhere the mindset to draw or paint since.

Awesome! I was just thinking last night that I hadnt seen any Tsai art for a while. I was mostly thinking this because I want to paint some drow characters, and thought about your fantasy art book, and that you're the king of painting drow...well, many reasons.
I can't wait till I can get this book too! Painting sci-fi stuff is so not my strong point, getting some advice from a master will be great!
