Description Peter Jackson is back in Middle-earth for another adventure three films long; I just saw the first movie and I liked it.
I started drawing on November 1 and I finished on december the 26. I worked on it for 110 hours. is certainly the most complex and challenging drawing I worked on. I was hoping to finish before the movie, but the effort was greater than I expected.
I suggest you look at the drawing in its original size, to capture the details.
Hope you like it

In photorealism there is only one thing that can be judged for the categories of Vision and Originality – and that is the reference. While this might be a popular picture from the movie, it seems uninteresting to me. The drawing shows little emotion, and the characters are simply standing around in a clump. Execution is important, but it can be lost if the proper reference is not chosen.

As far as execution you are masterly. The dwarves' beards are portrayed perfectly, and the amount of detail and effort put into the clothing is astounding. Additionally, I see no flaws in the outline. This is difficult to do in a multi-person drawing, but you have not been lazy!

No drawing is without faults, however. Hopefully I will be able to draw your attention to a few:

-The dwarf with the plate on his head, the light coming from the right is a little too strong (on the edges of his head and on the plate).
-The upper section of Bilbo's shirt is outlined a little too darkly at the neck. Also, his ear has a stray line towards the bottom.

---
In summary, this is an amazing drawing that really shows the amount of time put in. Next time I would advise additional care in selecting the photo to draw.

Great job Franco!

The detail is amazing, absolutely incredible! The shading is really really good! The shadows are perfect and the texture you've created is practically identical to that of real clothing, though Bilbo's shirt looks a little odd at the bottom - but, it's barely noticeable.

My only, you could say, criticism is that the expressions themselves could be a little more emotive as they look, to me, to be quite cold and blank (except for Bilbo). If you used a source photo, it could be that they did just look like that but, if it was just from memory I am incredibly incredibly impressed.

I also LOVED the movie! So, maybe I'm a little biased too. But, I think you did an amazing job!

I am a big fan of Lord of the Ring, and I love your drawings. The detail is super super awesome, and I bet you spent a lot of time for their hair and clothes. I don't really like their eyes though since they are emotionless. But overall, you did a great job. Well done!

What's not too like? It is perfect!...i personally love too see a portrait done by and artist without accurately drawn according to the photo reference or a snap shot, it would be great to see some differences even just a bit as long as it does'nt effect the propotion,i think that's what make you a great artist, you did put your own thought while doing it, cause if it too exactly as the photo, i would feel like im just looking at the photograph, photo are not always perfect, sometimes artist perfected the unperfection on the photo..and you did amazed me! Well done!

where do you get that paper, and what is your preferred brand of pencils? Also did you use a blending stump, or if not how did you shade this wonderful drawing?

I live in Milano, and here I can found anything I need for drawing (we have an important schhol of art, the Brera Accademy). For the pencil I prefere Pentel and Staedtler. For blending I like use dry brushes

I think this is an amazing piece myself. I know this story very well, and only someone who does not would assume that the object in the dwarfs hand was anything but a pipe. Obviously it captures the nervousness of the hobbit at having these ghastly visitors in his hobbit-hole, which is one of the most iconic moments in the story. The level of detail is what lends to photo-realism in my opinion, it is quite obvious it is pencil and there would be no doubt if it were done in oil. The fact that it is done with graphite is what makes it special. The detail is actually almost hyper-realistic in the fact that the details are even more noticeable than the photo because it was drawn in pencil. There may be tiny differences from the actual photo, but that is why we call it a "reference". A photo "copy" costs ten cents and takes ten seconds to create.  This is an unbelievable achievement in the world of graphite, there are precious few who could match it. Five stars for everything that you wanted from this work of art, which anyone would be happy to call their own.

Thank you and sorry for the late reply. Your comment is a real review, and I'd like to be able to speak and write English with greater mastery to be able to answer appropriately.
I love Tolkien, I love the books in first place, but I find that Jackson has done a great job and that the decision to collaborate with the great drawers who have always lived in a Tolkien's world is entirely justified. So this is a kind of virtuous circle: from the book to the images, from images to movies, from movie to images and from images to the script (your comments)
