Between 2006 and 2008, Ana and I worked together four times. She was at the end of a long and difficult marriage and at the beginning of a journey that would take her beyond the reach of my camera. At the beginning of our work together, there were long email messages exchanged and over those notes I was given an insight into her life. Just before her marriage ended, the conversation stopped. Despite working together twice after that, the connection that made our early work together powerful seemed to fall away. These images were the last before that break occured.

Originally created in 2006, they have been reprocessed to reflect a style we refer to as "color over" - essentially a hand-painted monochrome image. This was an art form popular before the advent of color film.
