Description Deinosuchus Hunting to Corythosaurus From Jurassic World In horrid henry Style

Corythosaurus (gr. "helmeted lizard") is a genus represented by two species of hadrosaurid ornithopod dinosaurs, which lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 77 to 75.7 million years ago, in the Campanian, in what is now it's North America. Corythosaurus is classified as a hadrosaurid, in the Lambeosaurinae subfamilies. Being related to other hadrosaurids such as Hypacrosaurus, Lambeosaurus and Olorotitan. With the exception of Olorotitan, they all share similar skulls and crests. However, recent research has suggested that Olorotitan is a close relative of Corythosaurus, even without sharing the crest shape.

Corythosaurus is known from many complete specimens, including the nearly complete holotype found by Brown in 1911. Only the last section of the tail and part of the forelimbs are missing from the holotype skeleton, but it was preserved with impressions of polygonal scales. Corythosaurus is known for many skulls with high crests. The crests resemble cassowary crests or a Corinthian helmet. The most likely function of the crest is vocalization. Like a trombone, the sound waves would travel through many chambers in the crest, then be amplified when the Corythosaurus breathed out. A Corythosaurus specimen has been preserved with its last meal in its thoracic cavity. Inside the cavity were remnants of coniferous needles, seeds, twigs, and fruit. Corythosaurus probably fed on all of these items. Corythosaurus has an estimated length of 9 meters, and has a skull, including the crest, that is 70.8 centimeters tall.

Two species are known, the type species and the best known is Corythosaurus casuarius, the other less known species is Corythosaurus intermedius. Both Corythosaurus species are present in slightly different levels of the Dinosaur Park Formation. Both coexisted with theropods and other ornithischians, such as Daspletosaurus, Brachylophosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Scolosaurus, and Chasmosaurus.
