Ha! I don't know about that (sounding cooler bit) but, drums are a blast, and easy to pick up, which is quite wonderful. They are ridiculiously difficult to master, however, which is also wonderful because they will keep you entranced for a long, long time. Also, people whom start on other instruments and can read charts usually excell when moving to percussion. =]

Excellent choice! Piano certianly helps, especially since you have to make independent, though coordinated movments with multiple appendages. Guitar works rather well, too- as does bass. Learning bass is rather easy after guitar, so you're deffintly on the right path.
