Connor opened the door to the manor, using the moonlight to guide his way through the dark hallway. He crept up the stairs, slowly opening up the door to his and Ellie's room. He tiptoed over to the chest at the end of the bed, using the faint moonlight to remove his weapons and robes. He tugged on a shirt, squinting at the bed. He used his special sense, frowning when he didn't see Ellie's familiar blue outline. He stayed still, closing his eyes. He finally heard a noise that seemed off. A sudden, wailing cry filled the house.

Rebekah was awake.

Connor made his way toward the door. Rebekah seemed to hate the fact that her parents liked to sleep at these hours, so she did all she could to make sure they did not get the opportunity to sleep at normal hours. Connor felt guilty for going on a hunting trip the day before, leaving Ellie alone with their four month old daughter. But, the trip was necessary and Connor knew Ellie would not hold it against him.

He followed the sound of the cries, finding Ellie standing in the record room. A lantern was lit on the table, casting it's flickering light on Ellie as she tried to soothe their daughter. She looked up as he walked in. "Thank God! Take her!"

Before Connor knew what was going on, Rebekah was being passed into his arms and Ellie was out of the room. Rebekah let out a few more cries, calming down to a few gurgles as the moments passed. Connor perched her on his hip, furrowing his brow. "Have you been causing your mother trouble?" he asked in Mohawk.

Rebekah just smiled, waving her arms a little. Connor smiled warmly, holding her against his chest. "Sleep now. For your mother."

Her small fingers curled into his shirt as he held her closer against him, like he knew she liked.

He pressed his lips to the top of her head, repositioning his hands so he could hold her as close as possible. She grunted, squirming a little to get situated. She finally yawned, resting her head down.

Connor grinned down at her, humming the lullaby he remembered from his own childhood, slowly walking back to their room. "Konnorónhkwa," he whispered against her hair, rocking her a little.

It was time all of them got some sleep.
