Joel Schumacher wanted to use Batgirl for Batman & Robin, and producer Peter MacGregor-Scott met with British actress Olivia D'Abo and he approach her for the role, but Joel wanted someone younger than Robin.

Christina Ricci, Liv Tyler, Natalie Portman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Eliza Dushku, and Neve Campbell were on the list to play Batgirl in Batman & Robin, but none of them were right. And Silverstone is the right choice. For me, Alicia Silverstone will forever be my favorite Batgirl.
