Somehow, he looks sad. All the veiny things look like crevasses and really creep me out. lol The figure in the back looks like the Madonna, and adds greater depth to this painting. I'd say you did a fabulous job on this one!
When I first saw the title, I thought of the "Tell Tale Heart" by Poe. lol

I like the intensity of the colours + the composition with the main figure against the background figure. I can see how it would contrast nicely with the colouration + inverted stance of the companion piece.
