I love learning more and more about chihuahuas and their origin breed Tichichis from Mesoamerica.
Knowledge is limited and scattered throughout the internet so it's hard to track down a definate source of info about them. What we do know is they originated with the Toltecs as hotwater bottles and food (they were also much bigger than modern chihuahuas?!). There's not a lot of mention of tichichis in Mayan and Aztec culture though, so I combined the mythology of the techichis with Xolotl, the Aztec dog god of death (and the basis of the Mexican hairless breed) to bring you this weird little look into my psyche.
