Guess who's backSchool is out... let the games begin.
I have officially moved into shooting RAW mode. Once I master RAW I am moving into flash work. If I had a high end flash I should have actually used it to shoot this picture by lighting the house. All in time.
I have some wicked climbing ideas I am patiently waiting to do. I am planning on getting a new crash pad and set of shoes tomorrow. yessss
I am also planning on formatting this pig... so I don't know how many deviations I will complete from my travels back to Rapid.

After receiving comments I decided a levels change would look better as suggested.

What kind is it, do you know? I was on assignment for the Tribune last month and I was driving through Bumblefuck, Pennsylvania and I saw a part of the field that reminded me of that.

Since you went in landscape shooting - to call it that broadly - you have created great stuff (no fear, the other pics in your gallery in my eyes are very interesting, too). I am especially fascinated by this shot. The arrangement of it and the clouds make it just very impressive. So no hesitation: this is my fav for today!

One day when I leave the prairie I will be back to urban material.
There is more landscape coming... don't worry about that... still got 2 months left.

Very nice. I love these old ND farmhouses. They have great photogenic personality. I've tried a few times to adequately capture them, but have never been able to get a realistic interpretation. The lighting here is superb, it really makes the picture. It gives this that surreal quality one gets when walking through these old places. Also, the sky is amazing. It worls not as a force multiplier, but as a character itself. Amazing composition.

Did you use the kit lens for this picture? I really like the drop off at the edges for this type of photography. Or did you end up putting that in later?

It makes a huge difference... Although I still maintain learning to shoot good pictures first then move to RAW because some people shoot crappy composed pictures then rely on RAW to fix it.

probably a good idea to look it up if you are going to think about it seriously. It basically give you tons of flexibility with images by allowing you the ability to change just about everything in the image without doing any destructive damage to it. Settings like white balance exposure saturation sharpness ect. don't matter as much because you can easliy fix them in Photoshop.

re: the raw - I did a shoot in raw sat night and the lot were stuffed (huge grain and interference lines) so I reshot all with the same conditions in jpeg fine and they turned out perfectly... so I dont know what the hell I did wrong in raw format.

It has to be in the settings of the program you are using to look at them then...

I think its that Adobe elements did some sort of quick auto adjust during the import of the images.... fucked them up right royally and I was stupid enough to delete the originals before checking the damage done.
