Description Since I've been doing another playthrough of Planescape Torment (for the 80th time) lately, I decided to make my own version of a shadow, who is one of the enemies encountered in the game. I may have gone a little overboard with the smoke effects but it is what it is. Anyhow, his name is Bob (not short for Robert) and he works as a bank teller at Wells Fargo somewhere in southern Tennessee.Β

Thanks I looked up a tutorial for the smoke effects to learn how to do them but it's pretty simple once you get the gist of it.Β

Fun name and occupation for such a strange "thing"- is that a "living" thing ? - and you rendered Β the vaporous effect quite well. And it does look like it's walking or floating toward the right, so the movement is there too, which is not that easy to do.

Technical tip ( or feedback ) : wether you take pictures of or scan your drawings, don't be afraid to push contrasts so the whites will appear homogenous and your darks will clash more.
You may loose some of the more subtle hues and nuances of your technique, tho... Depends on what you wanna do
But if you ever go for a cartoon style or graphic poster style, that's an easy way to convert "crayons" drawings into pencil or even CGI style ones...

I like coming up with weird stories for the characters I draw, even if they aren't OC's. Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot. I've been trying to figure out a better way to take pictures and edit them since my phone camera isn't very good and I can't, for the life of me, find decent lighting. I try not to edit them too much though, I'll play around with that when I try out digital art.Β

Got stuck with such problems too and scaning is the easiest transition between the two.
Requires a scaner and a good editing software, though... Mine is a A3 sized printer and scan I use for my day job in drawing building plans, so that was expensive but kind of paid for by real life. And a bootlegged old Photoshop 5 as software. That's really outdated but it also prevents me from not straying too far from hand-drawing, which remains the flesh and bone of what I do.Β
All that to say that adding a little digital doesn't kill the "crafty" spirit and really boosts the effect of what you can do.

I figured scanning would be the way to go but I don't really have the option to get a decent scanner now since I move around quite often and I prefer to travel light until I get situated more permanently somewhere. I've got the new Photoshop since I use it for my day job but I haven't really tried to edit my drawings yet. I'll try out a drawing pad soon though since I'm not at all opposed to going digital.Β
