Very nice to see such attention to historical detail in your cosplay. But I should note that Rip can not serve in 1. Panzer-Division "LSAH". Rip van Winkle doesn't meet the standard of the true Aryan. At most she could serve in 2. Panzer-Division "Das Reich" or 3. Panzer-Division "Totenkopf". If we accept the fact that Rip is Gebirgsjäger when she could serve in 7.SS-Freiwilligen Gebirgs Division «Prinz Eugen». But the soldiers of this division had a rune "Odal" on the right lapel.
Sorry for the criticism, but a serious thing requires a serious approach.

I thank you for the critique. It just seems as of late there's much, much debate on her unit and what she would serve in. I've seen so much variation with the fictional aspect of it that it seems as if there's really not a true specific way to tell, to be honest with you.
It's all fine. Believe me, I've known people who forced me to shut down my other account because they were incredibly harsh and judgmental...

Was Rip a Gebirgsjäger? Because the edelweiß which is the flower on the side of the service cap was only worn by Mountain Troops...... also the cuff title wouldn't be worn by a member of special forces, that Cufftitle is for the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH)... The rank is also properly called SS Untersturmführer not Luetnant. Also I got here by searching German Landsknecht Musketeer. XD

There are photos of her with the Edelweiß pin on her garrison cap, which I didn't know she had until later, so I did have some updating to do. It was after I put the cuff title on, so until I can afford the right one, I have to let it be for now.
lol

Meh I WWII Reenact honestly I would never destroy any sort of uniform with the Intention of Cosplay....buy some cheap Chinese shit if you want to do that. No need to spend too much money. Ebay or Hessian Antique is a good route to go. Jack boots suck anyways, get low boots and gaiters, Low Boots were the most common boots of the Heer.

I do collect uniforms and such, so if I'm going to do a cosplay with a character I enjoy, I'm going to do it right. Why waste money in cheap shit? It's still a nice piece to have in my collection anyways.
Well, I just boned on purchasing a pair of boots anyways. They fit size wise, but they're too small. I can't even fit my heel in the back. It tore as soon as I tried fitting my foot in there. They ripped in the back because I couldn't fit my heel in there. Idk if that has to do with them being women's shoes, but my foot fits the shoe size...so I don't know what happened with them. At this point, I'm willing to spend the money to get the right damn pair...

Also if they're true german jack boots or low boots they should be brown leather, your suppose to polish them black.

Also thats a rather Nice M36 tunic...... also make sure the Jack Boots have hobnails, not rubber, rubber is post war. Hobnails are the way to go.

K. Rosche with the midwest OKW unit here. I'm not exactly a big fan of that M36, personally. the collar hooks areout of place and the proportions seem a bit off to me, especially in the pants. I am the former owner of the uniform, I've been doing my best teaching her things here and there about WWII, the difference between historical accuracy, fictional designs, and where it's acceptable. I use my M36 SS-Sturmbannfuhrer impression to cosplay as the Major, personally I love seeing people do what they can to be accurate, or at least look accurate. Some things just CAN'T be replicated accurately, though, so you just gotta fill in some details. Like Major's "war hammer" division cuff title, and the fact you can't really see ANY of the other character's cuff titles. I'm also doing research for same character, so sometimes it's difficult finding references. I never trust wikiped when it comes to that shit, only period photos and modern photos of originals.
But, it's only personal preference, right? We're all different. I hate that shitty chinese shit being used for cosplay, because of the attitude associated with it. So, why not just be a little more passionate? There IS a difference between fiction and real life, right? sometimes the two overlap, like often in steampunk, but, most people just that "idgaf" attitude, or think convenience is far more virtuous than detail. I'm not fond of being bitched at to rip patches off my impressions just because someone doesn't understand that they have to be there. Also, don't forget that most hotels really hate hobnails on their floors, it scratches them up. that and you'll fall on your ass a bazillion times. My first event was the Anzio Express back in May, and they told us NO HOBNAILS!!! because it damages the floors on the nice, expensive antique coach cars and trolleys, so NVA boots with rubber soles only.
Sorry, I tend to rant when it comes to WWII history and reenactment!
