Description This is my entry for the "Get Inspired" contest/challenge over on Craftster.

He doll started his life as a "Scaris" Deuce Gorgon.
I removed his "snake-hawk" and molded hair, his face-up, and the tattooing on his left arm.
His hair is made from a long pile faux fur, his shirt is a poly-cotton remnant, and his jeans are a denim remnant. His vest started its life as a Liv doll's leather jacket and the wings on the back are made of iron on fabric and were hand-drawn then outlined in Sharpie. His crossbow is made of a wooden dowel, plastic canvas covered with yarn, hemp cord, a piece of bamboo skewer, and a bit of cardboard; the wooden and cardboard bits are painted with black acrylic paint. His bolts are made from slivers of plastic canvas and little bits of felt.
His face was painted using watercolors then sealed. His eyes came out smaller than I wanted them to but I didn't want to make them too big and my hands aren't all that steady. In other words, I need to practice painting doll faces more.

I'm going to post up more pics of him on my other account, FreakieDarling . So far, I've just got a couple shots of him on my desk. If the weather ever warms up again, I'll take pics of him outside.

Wow! Very nice job on him! Are there plans to do any of the others? I really like this.

I want SOO much to make a Michonne but I can't find an articulated doll like this with the right skintone
But I'm eventually making Daenerys and Drogo from Game of Thrones and Farkas, Vilkas and Aela from Skyrim along with my Dunmer Dovahkiin.

Dang...well I hope you can find something eventually, because that'd be one badass doll right next to Daryl.
I haven't seen that show at all yet, but heard good things about it. I've watched a red wedding reaction clip a few months ago and by those peoples reactions, GoT must be really intense lol.

I know, right? Ugh. The ONE MH character who has the perfect skintone has a big smile, showing teeth and that's so not Michonne
I've seen season one and a few from season two. I'm way behind Dany and Drogo are going to be made using Ever After High dolls. I just have to get other stuff done before I sit down to do them. Like my Halloween costume

My dad said that, too I want to make a zombie bride and groom for a friend and his fiancée, if I can find a reasonably priced male zombie doll. There are oodles of the girl zombie out there. I have one of the boy zombie but he's for my collection.

Yeah and the guy is cute-ish. But I can change that with a bit of paint It's just getting one of the zombie boys for a good price that's hard.

Take your time.  I know what it's like to engage a huge project and then to get it done.  Remember with me, it was "Tumbleweeds with Training Wheels" back in 2009 and a bit more in 2010.  That was about three or four months of work ... I think.  It's easy to also get burned out on the huge projects too.  That's where SCAD was wrong in doing these insane projects that cost so much time and money.

Urgh, I could never go to an art school. Seems they all are like SCAD: big project, big project, HUGE PROJECT, big project...you get the idea. That's a quick way to burn someone out.

Oh indeed ... when a class asks for supplies that cost $200-$500 a class, you know it's going to be rough.

**Giggles!**

I mentioned that in one of the classes and the Professor read me the riot act.  I got so pissed I went to the administration and they had no sympathy either.  When I returned, I bought what I could.  When the Professor make a snarky comment about it, I told her to fuck off.

Maybe.  SCAD seems to think so.

Yeah I worked on him about a month! All of his clothes, with the exception of the vest, were hand-sewn and my stitches are teeny-tiny. I repainted a motorcycle for him, too.

Oooh! Make sure to upload that. you should do, Rick and Michone too!

FreakieGeekie In reply to LennonBlack [2014-05-01 10:42:08 +0000 UTC]

Mm, I have. They're on my other account. Not very good ones but they'll do for now.
I want to make a Michonne but I can't find an articulated AA doll with the right skintone. Or, when I do find one, the doll is astronomically priced! Rick would be sort of easy to do because the MH boys have the right skintone. But I've only got four boy dolls and they're already assigned to characters: another Daryl (to maybe send to Reedus), Merle (for my sister) and Vilkas and Farkas from Skyrim (for me).

FreakieGeekie In reply to LennonBlack [2014-05-01 10:49:30 +0000 UTC]

I want to get another MH boy to make a Rick but the boys are hard to get and are usually expensive. I've been lucky to find the few that I have for less than $50 each. The most I've paid for one was $30, including shipping. I could use a different sort of doll but these dolls have a really good range of articulation. I wish they had a girl with Michonne's skintone but they don't. The girls all have odd skin colors.

LennonBlack In reply to FreakieGeekie [2014-05-01 10:52:49 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm.... I believe the medusa doll had a good skin tone, but perhaps to light for Michonnes skin.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FreakieGeekie In reply to LennonBlack [2014-05-01 10:57:52 +0000 UTC]

Deuce's girlfriend Cleo? Yeah, she's too light. If I knew anything about changing the skintones, I could darken her. I've never tried and fear I'd ruin a doll and these things aren't cheap.
Clawdia actually has the right tone but there's only one version of that doll so far and she's smiling with her mouth open, showing fangy teeth. That doesn't work for Michonne.
