Description Yeah, I've tried something new. This is actually a mix between darkroom and digital.
Hope you like it.

I am really loving this photo. A lot. I was just browsing your gallery and zoning out just staring at all the pieces (which is bad because much note taking I must do sometime today for damn English.. *procrastinates*) And anyway, I think this one is my favorite piece of all your photos. That and 'Meditation', which I will get to in a few minutes XD;

There is something about this photo. I really think it is the power line with the birds on it. But anyway, if you look at it in thumbnail (which is basically a sin with this photo) I couldn't really /see/ the phone line and it reminded me of some sort of utopia. Because it looks so peaceful and lovely and that refuge of a tree/bush (the tree is rather bushy. In my opinion. Uhp, here I go with my damn sick mind again. X___x; People can't take me anywhere). And then I saw the power line and that idea was sort of shattered. And I love it. Because it is funny how technology can interrupt life as people once knew it. Mayhap I am just dense or something. But I thought that my reactions were rather peculiar, hence my explanation to you (and my vague confession that I am a hippie by nature >_>.

The colors are really incredible. The sky has that washed out appearance, but the field doesn't at all. In fact the contrast in the washed out sky and the deep green field, nearly black, is even more appealing to the eye, in my opinion.

I noticed that there was no title for this piece. And I see that others gave recommendations and such. But I am not so sure that titles, per say, are really required. Sometimes there is just so much involved in the piece to really narrow it down to just a few words. I don't know but it seems to me that this photo speaks volumes all by itself XD; Just to inform you though, the first /words/ I thought of with this was that saying about something being 'for the birds', as in... something unwanted or discarded. I am not really sure why those words came up, but they sure as hell did. Oo; *looks at it again* Did I make up that saying? XD! Lmao. Now I am looking at it and it seems foreign to me... ugh.

But I digress, this is glorious. You are so very talented and understand quite well how to make images effect others. __ I am excited to comment on your 'Meditation' piece now :333 Can you take the painstakingly long comments? =_=; I must bore you!

I definitely can take painstakingly long comments.
I really love when people really comments on what my art makes them feel... Like their interpretation of my vision. It's a very nice contrast to the "I like it" comments. It's like, okay, you like it. But why?
So I always try to explain why I do like a photo when I comment on one.

So, wow, thank you very much!

And I should probably re-do this piece... It's only a very low-res piece I worked with, since I didn't scan it big enough...

awh but it doesn't change the fact that it is freakin incredibly taken >___<; I really really love it ^__^;
And don't faint on account of my long rambling comments. It isn't worth it XD; Don't want you to fall on your perfectly shaped nose now *falls out of a tree* :3 I kid. Anyway, huzzah for long comments and emoticons. You seem to be the king of them, yes? 8D

I really like the colors in this picture, and how the light seems to be emanating from the tree onto the field. The sky is a strange color, but it actually fits the peice nicely.
I don't think the focus is on the birds (which are a great addition), so I wouldn't title it about them. I've been racking my brain for a title, but all that's come to mind is "Tree of Light", which doesn't fit the picture very well..."Not Quite Alone", maybe, since without the birds the tree would be seemingly alone in the midst of this field..."Center of Gravity", maybe, since your eye is drawn to the tree and it's in the direct center of the shot.

Just some suggestions

Really incredible. Somehow 'Blob' sounds like a good title to me.

freakyhedgehog In reply to vxt [2005-09-27 12:26:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

But 'blob' may be a little too casual name.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vxt In reply to freakyhedgehog [2005-09-27 14:47:23 +0000 UTC]

I know. Most serious artwork can't pull off a casual title, but when it can I think it reaches a higher level of "confidence" in itself and becomes much more enjoyable.

Well, I later thought of the word "Winged" as a title, don't know why.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

freakyhedgehog In reply to vxt [2005-09-27 16:54:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I don't want a titlw that is too pretentious,
as that's just akward. But then again, I don't want a title that sounds like I just slapped it on, so the title
ruins the feel of the piece. So it's a very thin line to walk on.

So surreal! This is a wonderful image. Not too sure on the colours but the longer I look at this the more they appeal to me.
It's an extremely unique photograph though, a rarity around here
I hope you post more of the other photographs you showed me! They're brilliant!

Thank you very much. It means a lot, especially coming from you.
And I actually wasn't sure about the colours either, but after a while I quite like them.
And I will post some of them. Maybe even tonight, or tomorrow. I've scanned a few in higher resolutions,
so now I just need to tweak them a little in PS.

what a beautiful photo...it almost seems like a memory in your mind. Those are the colors that your mind sees...That's an interesting way in which you created this photo -- darkroom and digital...I don't know anything about non-digital photography...so, i wish I had background to understand how you could have accomplished such a wonderful photo.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

freakyhedgehog In reply to Gamez82 [2005-09-23 22:39:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. I wanted it to have a kind of dreamy feel to it.
And yeah, darkroom and digital is a funny combination. I started a photo class at school
so I've been doing lots of darkroom photography, but it's just black and white, so I used
photoshop to add some depth into the photos.

I particulary like the birds above the tree...they almost look as if they have been digitally put in there (they havent though...right?)
