"Connecting..." Water Media on Canvas, 24x36"

In this piece I combined what I learned in "My View" but added more color and used a photography technique: Field of Depth. The small "boxes" of skin tones don't touch each other but our eyes are making the connection. This is also symbolic of Crow's own story of connecting with his past as a Native American. As child he couldn't understand why he didn't fit in with the rest of the kids at his school - he wasn't white or black. So his father started taking him down to Cherokee, N.C. each summer to learn about his past and make the connection.
