Why move it to scraps? You've created a highly successful portrait here. Great expression, moody lighting, great feeling to it. Anyone who looks at this for a few moments will relate to it. Everyone knows an older gentleman who has a gentle, thoughtful, contemplative side that they wish they saw more often. You've captured that universal concept as clearly as a Norman Rockwell painting.
It is a bit different in theme than your usual work, but it does share the same depth of thoughtfulness and unique vision apparent in much of your other work. You see as an artist, and it shows in this piece as much as any other. It's a shot to be proud of, and it's certainly worthy of keeping in your gallery.
I also hope you print a copy to frame and give your dad for his birthday. Fathers often wonder how their daughters see them, and I'm sure this would make his heart warm.

Necu da filozofiram puno...jako je prosto, lampa(predpostavljam da je lampa) je pozadi i levo,svetlo od lampe ide direktno u objektiv...odbija se od objektiv i to se vidi u naocarim.
