Description Werewolf, or more *accurately* WereDIREwolf families are led by the Alpha Female.
We make all of the plans and our word is final on major decisions.
For the most part, we hate "Lazy".
We swoon over "Extra Effort".
Over the generations, our mates have nicknamed us "The family generals"!
Ten-hut! Inspection Time!!!

That's all right, because husbands tend to be mindful fo the details that could ruin "*Her* Kommadant's" plans.
Generals are helpless without(sic) a good Sargeant and they know it.

Werewolves are at least as strong as werelions on average.
They are the most tenacious of all lycanthropes but tend to adapt the slowest.

Jetta, Thabian and their children are currently the only Werewolves(sic) that can bear offspring.

Thanks to carefully researched magic, the other werewolf clan members have had their lifespans extended to pair with Jetta's offspring as they mature.

I love these things. One question though, if the other werewolves can make children with Jetta's offspring, why can't they make children with each other? Either the equipment works or it doesn't.

2 born and health so far. Jetta can take her time. She can produce health kids well into her 70s.

Jetta's got another one on the way, huh? NEAT!

Hmm, looks like, oh, you noticed the error. Okay.

Still, I always thought Werelions were stronger since Iceron made the Werecats later and I thought he made them to be superior to his first few Werecreatures (dogs, wolves, rats).

Guess not. Oh well, good to see this.

Love the info drop and great to hear about the Werewolves!

I think from my own recollections Pojo would be between 9-10 since he and Tiffy are about the same age give or take and Alera/Elera is six like you said. ^^

And Jetta's preggers again? Time to throw a baby shower!

I do j'adore that 1) this series has a lot of moms and 2) they all kick some serious tail. Jetta was one my early faves when I started in on GD -- the original "mama wolf".

Years of mix breeding with humans can make werewolves, look more human.
That's just my take on them.

On a lighter note, a congrats to Jetta. :3

Darkblade2000us [2013-06-19 03:31:17 +0000 UTC]

I saw mention of a vamp/werewolf affliction, but more on the lycans, couldn't they just turn some willing people into more werewolves or would that also put the curse on them as well? Or guessing there are potential complications with turning humans into werewolves. Either way congrats on baby #3. Do they have a name planned yet or is that saved till some naming ceremony?

FredGDPerry In reply to Darkblade2000us [2013-06-19 05:01:35 +0000 UTC]

Lycanthropes that are infected aren't exactly on equal terms with the infecter. An infected is basically a thrall. They can't exert their will against anything the infecter tells them.

Jetta didn't want to go around taking people's free will away just to save her clan... Especially when there were alternatives.

Darkblade2000us In reply to FredGDPerry [2013-06-19 07:00:52 +0000 UTC]

Ah ok, I remember from the Edge guard series when Onoli turned that hogling girl it seemed like a controversal atmosphere around the transformation aside from the whole multiple souls in one body that came after etc etc, but yeah I can see how that would definitely be a bad thing. Guess they're left with just making more babies idea. Oh darn . . . lucky bastard.

FredGDPerry In reply to Ragehoof [2013-06-19 05:25:23 +0000 UTC]

You know that was situational. Jetta (alone with her husband)finds a REALLY powerful looking werecheetah stalking around her secret territory with an armed human! That put her in "Suprise! you're still at war" mode.

I war mode, people go around hunting other people with guns in the name of, "I have orders to hunt people!"

War mode can make reasonable anthropoids do stuff they *wouldn't* do if they could think and chose rationally.

Forgot to ask: which groups contributed to the human side of the wolves? I'm guessing, for the moment, various European groups, maybe some Near East and North African, given what you've said of Iceron's home base location.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FredGDPerry In reply to Ragehoof [2013-06-19 04:26:54 +0000 UTC]

European Human mostly. Some Elf. Since Dire Wolf is european there is some elemental connection. All things that are birthed and fed and raised in the same region have elemental connections

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Glitterboy2098 In reply to FredGDPerry [2013-06-19 07:21:05 +0000 UTC]

real Dire Wolves were an American only species. [link]

so i'm guessing that Iceron used a (fictional) little known european branch in his experiments?

frankly i wish Dire Wolves had been found in Europe.. it would make one of my RPG projects easier to fluff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ragehoof In reply to Glitterboy2098 [2013-06-19 15:22:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, Fred's old explanation was that Iceron used 'grizzly wolves' from northern Europe to make the werewolves after his werehounds failed in their appointed task.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glitterboy2098 In reply to Ragehoof [2013-06-20 04:26:33 +0000 UTC]

'grizzly wolves' is a cool name, i wish i'd thought of it first for my RPG project.. Giant wolves fit thematically with what i'm doing (considering i have a werewolf group involved, and that RPG lets Werewolves command canines), but since dire wolves aren't native, i'm having to come up with a new name and species to explain it. thankfully i can invoke 'extradimensional immigrants' for origin.

Ragehoof In reply to FredGDPerry [2013-06-19 04:46:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah. So if Iceron imported his dire wolves from the American packs, he'd've nabbed the earliest Americans? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FredGDPerry In reply to Ragehoof [2013-06-19 05:16:53 +0000 UTC]

if he couldve gotten his hands on them, yeah.
When making something out of two, it's sometimes easier when those peices start out with a few things in common.

Even if you knew as much as Gothwrain does about paragon level enchantment crafting...
It's really hard to make an Egyptian elf werepolarbear.
It's much easier to make an Asian red werepanda.
(Guess those have to go into the whatif thing now...)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ragehoof In reply to FredGDPerry [2013-06-19 05:46:22 +0000 UTC]

Seemed to get his hands on South American critters and people just fine when it came time to make the cats. XD

FredGDPerry In reply to Ragehoof [2013-06-19 08:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I stand corrected. I suppose he could have. But he had Direwolves in the neighborhood.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ragehoof In reply to FredGDPerry [2013-06-19 15:20:44 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Always easier and usually cheaper to grab the local stock. Probably bigger than the American direwolves, anyway. XD

matt-xaxi [2013-06-19 03:10:25 +0000 UTC]

Werewolves sound right up my ally if i HAD to pick a race to be based on the GD races. BUT! Xaxial is an elf. Sure the ONLY time his noble heritage actually shows in his actions is when he is protecting friends or family, but he is still a elf all the same.

Damn Xaxial and his Chaotic Good nature >_>

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ragehoof In reply to matt-xaxi [2013-06-19 03:15:02 +0000 UTC]

That won't stop him. Elves are as susceptible to lycanthropy as humies.

... which actually reminds me of something. >.>
