A Belgian Wasteland ClassicOk, so...
Around Xmas, I went with my cousin photographer Eve Van Soens to one of the most (and most pathetically) famous of all disused industrial sites in Belgium: the former Clabecq steel foundry.
There's not much left: just a couple of silos in a stretch of mud, remains of a freight train station, and a warehouse we didn't dare to stay in for too long because it reeked of pollution: After a few hours walking the site, we could definitely feel an unnatural taste in our mouth, akin to what I imagine is like chewing plutonium for breakfast. But it's a great place for photography, and we had a swell time.
I just spent weeks selecting the best pictures (there were so many!), but here they are at last :
