Lying on my back
Looking up at the night sky
I hope that they can see
That there's hope in my eyes
That the stars up above
Shine down around me
That the black tar pit
That used to be me heart
Has given way to something more
Where once there was an iron prison
Now lies a garden
Where once there was jealousy
Now lies acceptance
And once where I was lying six feet deep
Now I stand above it all
I've been beaten, bowed, and broken
But I've always made it back
To where I belong
Been down to the depths of hell
And to the heights of heaven
But always with both feet firmly on the ground
