Happy really late b-day,
One of my biggest inspirations early on was artist Joe Madureira. I used to collect X-Men comics just for his art and spend most of my time gawking at it, instead of being interested in the story. If you don't know who he is, here's a sample: [link]
Kishimoto's held my favor for a long time now, but after seeing a collection of Joe Mad's most recent works and what I've been missing, I have fallen in love all over again.
I'm going for a combination of Kishi and Joe Mad's amazing styles here, and also trying to portray my all-time fave characters in ways you've never seen them before.

Genious! simply genious. I'm not that big on Akatsuki, but the Zombie Brothers are on my top 5 of likeable naruto characters.
As I've mentioned before you have a great grip on dynamics and the use of thinner lines makes your details all the more amazing to watch.
The folds you draw in the clothes have also improved and while I have to say that I find it sad that we're missing out on an actual background I think the all white look makes the characters way more intimidating since you focus solemnly on them and the fact that they look like the want to strangle you with your own spine. (Hidan in particular)
Now, since this IS me, and since I AM rather anal when it comes to this, I wouldn't feel like myself if I didn't point out what errors I find.
This picture is astounding. The enviroment and characters are both super so it was actually hard to find any errors at all, since there aren't any particularly glaring ones.
The only error i could find was Kakuzu's left elbow (HIS left elbow). It seems too big and angular. I'd smoothen it out just a little bit and then tone down the lines tracing the bone along the elbow.
I don't know if that sounds like complete rubbish but it makes sense to now, when I sit and write it.
well... that's it. I can't find anything else... you've really outdone yourself this time. This picture is dynamic, detailed and well within it's rights to be called your best akatsuki picture to date (this author's humble oppinion)

Hey no worries! I like anal....(I know, there's gotta be a better way to say that 
Dynamics is one element in my art that I really care about emphasizing, and unfortunately I don't feel this one accomplished that very well. I think I have drawn them at, not bad per se, but inconvenient poses to illustrate a better perspective and dynamic.
I think placing Hidan more towards the front and Kakuzu more back and behind him would've created a better 'coming to hand you your esophagus' feel, but for the sake of showing more of the art of each character, I placed them more side by side, which hinders the action flow.
Thanks for articulating why the lack of a background could be appealing, but you've also got a point in that a background would've added more spice. More often than not, a background enhances a piece instead of taking away from it.
The large and angular aspect you see especially in Kakuzu's arms is entirely on purpose, I tried to marry (and not in a Ass-uke kinda way

awesome >_< I don't even like those two akatsuki members but can't help faving this pic for other reasons! as with your other deviations...you manage to draw two characters on the page, and even if one is further ahead than the other...it doesn't steal focus

I know Madureira and I love his arts too. This pic is very very well done, dynamic, energetic; it remembers me not only Madureira's and X-men art, but also some works of unknown Italian cartoonists.
