You can see the grain, but it doesn't detract at all, there's a lot of stuff to obfuscate it.

....this is 72 dpi & Minolta Filter blend together...
You see noise if print at 300dpi 8 x 12.

...Niose or no noise is not my concern...I remember during old days SLR time, KODAK even introduce many great color/BW model shots that purposely blend with multy-exposure of noise effect.
Some spray matt-black paint on sand paper to shoot it as second
exposure over their portrait......that's lost technique.

....today's new geberations was blind by technology/cathalogue that they crazy over demand on no noise consider good shoot ?
....that's was wrong for my personal opinion because to me...it's depends on what kinds of concept a photographer present.....sometimes noise makes ARTISTIC results.....' depends '

...i never let's ' no noise ' mastermind my brain, i prefer understanding/balance matter....subject.

luminance noise is okay, as it emulates the film grain, but chromatic noise is just plain ugly

Friend, ...human makes rules...many business people behind all this.

If a famous photographer was paid to introduce/promoting/blog around the globe that luminance
noise is ugly & chromatic noise is okay....I believe many will follow that because human mostly goes for majority and plant their brain/believe in follow/think .

...same teory like a POWER MOTIVATOR give talks....they have skills to make you flot...drown....tears...poison your thinking....

....the teory is also same as some says Monalisa face are pretty and some says not, just a normal lady.

& also teory of....a watercolor painter claim his arts are better/greater than oil painting because bla..bla..bla...

...maybe in another planet rocks are consider beauty than a diamond ?

....noise is actually part of EFFECT....no matter it's luminance or chromatic....I never listen/rea/follow because I only believe different people, different taste.....

Old days debate: FUJI, KODAK, MITSHUBISHI, AGFA....etc
Today's debate : NIKON,CANON,SONY,OLYMPUS,LEICA,CONTAX...

lol...just for sharing

^^ I'm just reflecting where today's tendance is going at. Camera manufacturers are all leaning towards chromatic noise reduction since well... the Nikon EXPEED was introduced to the world.

I'm glad you are following your own view in photography. I'm trying to find mine.

YA....if every year camera manufacturers didn't find a loop hole and promoted their new inventions, they cannot stand on top amoung others competitors...& $$$$$$$$

So, once you build some new technology...you need marketing stragedy and arts of poisoning could be in blogging...cathalogue....sample...photo magazine & paid power writer to bla..bla...

I always remember that during SLR camera time....there's no back-preview screen...and many great photo are done !
A lot quality that done by film/slide effect was lost in space.......

lol.

I think camera innovations sorta helps the talented and the knowing to enhance their potential.

For a while, camera innovations in consumer cameras have been going towards the intelligent auto where the exposure is influenced by more than just lighting: face, smile, movement, scene, shadows are all taken into account to get as close as a WYSIWYG shot for those who need it.

Being able to shoot pictures of high dynamic range or noiseless high iso pictures sorta bring more possibilities and grounds for the artist to work. Of course, the artist needs to know about them and how to use them to their advantage. People who know how to grasp the full potential of technology shouldn't fear innovation if they can afford it.

Of course, you can do your own thing by shooting fully manual. I just do both.
