Description Many years had now passed since the death of Persephone’s parents. Demeter sad over the loss of her friends, used the royal house of Eleusis as her workstation and part-time home. She made sure that Persephone was aware that she was adopted and knew about her parents as well. Ever since Demeter petitioned Zeus to make Persephone a goddess, she trained in order to have an excellent control over her powers.

Demeter looked out upon the field where Persephone would play with her cousins, Apollo and Hermes. Ares was there as well, preferring to stay hidden from view in order to better protect his precious cousin. Said girl was currently using her powers to manipulate the plants to catch Hermes who was flying above the ground, on his winged shoes, trying to evade Persephone’s plants. Meanwhile Apollo was laughing at Hermes’ attempts to evade Persephone.

“Persephone is now ten years old,” thought Demeter, “It is time that I present her at Mount Olympus, so that she can make some female friends.” Demeter wasn’t worried about Persephone protecting herself. She encouraged Persephone to learn how to defend herself, thus her “play-time,” with Apollo and Hermes, while a seemingly uninterested Ares looked on.

Persephone learned different things from each of her cousins. From Apollo, she learned all about music and medicinal herbs. From Hermes, she learned how to be tricky, think fast, how to write literature and compose poems. From Ares, she learned how to use various types of weapons and was even able to best Apollo at the bow and arrow (much to his dismay).

“Kore, that is enough, I think that you should let Hermes land now,” called out Demeter.

“But Metra he can go on for hours!” replied Persephone/Kore.

“No buts, young lady,” Demeter sternly called back. “I have something important that I need to talk to you about.”

“Coming Metra,” called out Persephone, “Bye Apollo, bye Hermes, bye Ares,” called out Persephone as she ran to her mother in her grass stained, pink chiton.

Upon reaching Demeter, Persephone inquired “What is the important thing that  you need to talk to me about?”

“Persephone as you know you are ten years old,” stated Demeter.

“Yes, what does this have to do with anything,” questioned Persephone.

Demeter then proceeded to explain that when a young deity reaches the age of ten, they are to be presented in front of the other deities on Mount Olympus. Then they are officially given their title. “And it has traditionally occurred on the day of the summer equinox. For that is when the Titans were overthrown,” finished Demeter.

“Metra, will anyone I know be there?”

“Yes my dear, Kore, there will. As well as some prospective new friends.” Excited about the prospect of new friends, Persephone rushed to her chambers to get ready. For the summer equinox was that very same day.

“She reminds me so much of her parents,” commented Demeter to herself as Persephone ran to her room. “Always ready to make new friends.”

At the celebration of the anniversary of the Titans defeat by the Olympians, Persephone befriended the two virgin goddesses Artemis and Athena. She had such fun she almost forgot to accept her title as the goddess of springtime and life.

All of the gods were there except for one, Hades the Lord of the Underworld and Dead. He was tied up in the Underworld dealing with a back-log of souls waiting to be judged, starting when Pandora opened her cursed box and released the plagues. It would be seven more years before he finally had the Underworld back to normal and under control.

Thank you. Look out for the Pit Bull Terriers. I use them to explain Cerberus later on.
