Taken in BuTuo, Sichuan where a group of KGV School students went to teach schoolgirls in a rural village school. It is the beginning of November and they've just gathered the harvest. Corn lies on the ground everywhere - perhaps they are trying to dry it out so it can be stored for the winter? I saw lots of instances where they were thrashing the corn..maybe to make rice? I don't know...It's such a shock when people like us go into rural countrysides, where this is their way of life. It's so far removed from our daily lives and being there was almost surreal. It's kind of amazing to think that whilst we go about our daily lives talking to our friends on the phone, via Internet, watching TV every night, taking long hot showers, etc., others are preparing their store of food for the winter, watching that their pigs don't go astray and sleeping with the goats on hard clay floors.
