Description This is my half of an art trade for , which he wanted a surprise as my half of the trade. While I was outside on my nature walk and found this flower, I thought of his mermaid OC Gold because the flower gives off the same color that she is. So, I figured that this picture would be dedicated to Gold the Mermaid, and serve as my art trade. Plus, it was one of the best shots that I did with this flower.

Hello there!  I'm bringing you some feedback via !  :>

I really love the shot you took here!  The flower is gorgeous, and what really makes the image captivating is because the focal point goes directly to the flower itself!  That's what really makes a picture shine out in my opinion.
The only critique I would give you is to try out taking photographs with various specs of lighting!  The photo looks slightly 'bland' in a way because to me the levels of shading and lighting look balanced out.  I'm not saying that's a bad thing, rather just an idea on how to view a photo with lighting perspectives.  Try to take a photo on a day where the sun is really shining and see how it will go from there!

Did you happen to take this photo on a rainy day?  I understand completely if that's the case.  XD  Overall, really stunning picture and you captured the flower's beauty extraordinarily!

Hello! I'm from ProjectComment 's Weekly Commenting Project to bring you a comment!

First of all, I like the shot. The flower isn't exactly at the center, that's one. Even if the flower's image was covered slightly with blades of grass it's lovely because you didn't try to get a clear shot, as that would look quite plain. However, I think that when the grass cuts through the flower it gets distracting...

Umm, I'm not sure about what you photographed this with, but did you zoom in? I'm aware this image is quite old and you might have improved in ways of photography, but it's important to know that zooming in usually makes images blurry, like on phones and cameras on auto mode. It can be seen that it's hard to differentiate colours of the flowers and it's parts because the image isn't sharp enough.

Next, light source. Being on a nature walk, you probably don't have anything to help except for the sun and some shadows, but there is little to no shadows in this image that gives it a "flat" look. I suggest trying to make the colours seem more contrast by making some parts darker and lighter by moving in position against the sunlight or something like that.

Lastly, the focus. You focused more on the grass than the flowers, mainly because it's darker in colour (as the flower isn't neon either), and that it's details are sharper. I suggest trying to focus on the flowers and maybe have the background a little blurred effect, which is nicely done to the grass on the back of the flowers.

Umm, that's all I'd like to say, thank you!
Have a great day, I hope this comment helps!

Hi there, I am commenting for ProjectComment and I have been asked to comment your work

I am using the projects projectcomment.deviantart.com/… to comment.

Exposure - The image could do with more light, I am sure you tried to achieve a dreamy effect but even with a bit more light that is still there. I have just seen that you use a handheld so it is hard for me to see what settings it has and which you used. I would suggest though that you put your images which are very nice composition wise through real developing software that can help you make adjustments. Because it is free and it gives very good results I like to recommend RawTherapee for that. It works fine with JPEGs too.

Focusing - The focussing is just fine, from the flower down over a vertical axe in the middle.

Lighting - Because of the exposure the image is on the heavy side.

Model - Now this may sound funny but three leaves are crossing the flower, the left one irritates me. As I do you by now I am sure

Positioning/Framing - It's nice a bit more green on the top would have been nice.

Shutter Speed - Is obviously a non issue here as you have no influence on it.

My opinion:

I think you make nice pictures. What shows in this picture and what returns in your gallery are problems with the light. I think this is the first thing you should work on. I dont want to direct you to any expensive DSLR equipment. But I can show you how to improve as a first step. Take my advise under exposure and run your photos through RawTherapee. Play with the options. It even has some great pre-settings. It will prepare you for work with higher level equipment. You show potential and you have a keen eye for a subject.

I want to close my ProjectComment with a final rating 1-10 10 being highest. I have to guess your age but I think you are a very young talent, therefore I give you an 8

BTW did you notice the Ladybird in the flower
