Description
I didn't have enough space on the first sheet for all of my Unworld ideas, so here's a second one.
The Awesome Skeleton is, of course, inspired by the skeleton illustrations by DnD artist Anne Stokes. The reference image that I used had two LMGs, so I thought of something that would seem just as absurd but still setting appropriate and flintlock repeaters seemed to work. Flouting Fantasy Gun Control seems to be one of this setting's main issues. An idea that I'd had is that "awesome skeletons" are regular sites in the Unworld, not actually being evil, just being overly theatrical Mall Goths. They're highly important, as they're the only beings in the Unworld who can organically produce happiness, bottled happiness being one of the Unworld's most important commodities. Knight of Skeleton in Berserk and Death in Discworld may or may not be relevant comparisons.
Elves for this setting are often built as nomadic warriors, an idea which came from the occupation of Beleriand by the Noldor in the Silmarillion, so their tents have a very Bedouin look. I made sure not to steal any sacred symbols or cultural practices. For planes other than the Material one, I am hoping to use lots of the same impossible spaces as the ones depicted by Remedios Varo, the yellow wagon being one of my first attempts.
I based the Unworld's version of the Tree of the Fulcrum and the Tomb of Balearic and Andalusia off of the cover of Warrior on the Edge of Time by Hawkwind, which I found to be the most trite, boring, uninspired Progressive Rock album that I had ever listened to, but the album's cover art is still tremendous and the band has importance for this setting yet, mainly for them being named after an incarnation of Michael Moorcock's *Eternal Champion*. The Tree of the Fulcrum is, in essence, the Special Tree from the Monument Mythos, but I based its look off of a dead tree that I once photographed obsessively in Northern California.
