Description
It was another wonderfully dreary, dark day in The Pits, and Murky Dismal was in his lab, working on his newest scheme to conquer Rainbow land.

In the middle of mixing a strangely florescent concoction for the barrel of his Dismal Blaster 3.0, there came a knock on the door downstairs. The loud echoing knock, heard even above the thunder outside, caused Murky to drop an entire jar of sludge into the mix. Three hours of hard work, ruined.

“Grrrr! Lurky!!! Answer the door!” he screamed as he began clearing the mess. There was no answer, and moments later the knocking returned, louder and more insistent.

“LURKY! You celery-brain! Answer the door!” Murky then remembered that Lurky was out getting supplies to restock the kitchen, the contents of which had spoiled beyond even his taste after the twenty years he and Lurky accidentally spent drifting from planet to planet. He was never going to try abducting a Wajah again.

“Fine, I’ll answer it myself.” With a sigh he hopped down from his stool and went down the winding stone stairs as the pounding resumed. Three thunderous knocks. “I’m coming! I’m coming!!

“Whatever you’re selling, we’re not interest… ed…” His words died on his lips as soon as he flung the door open to see a tall figure standing on the other side. Then there was a crash of lightning, illuminating the sky behind this man, and for that split second Murky’s mind saw the man as larger, sharper, more deadly than anything he’d ever seen, with eyes piercing into his very core.

So he slammed the door.

Then bolted and barricaded it.

And that's how Murky Dismal met his nephew Murky II. Though he had no clue that the tall stranger at his door was a relative.

The lightning and heavy shadows on Murky II were an interesting challenge. I think it turned out alright, yeah? ^^
