I don't understand either. THe job market here isn't that poor. From what I have learned a lot of the homeless in my area are either homeless by choice or they have a problem substance abuse.

I'm afraid you're both wrong. It really depends on the area. Where I live, many many people have lost their jobs, and many of them are young, capable, and not substance abusers. The economy is in a very poor state, and shows little to no signs of improving as of yet. This young man to me does not look like he's homeless by choice. It looks like he got laid off and has no money to rent an apartment. If it was a choice, his sign would be asking for food instead of work.
Anyone can become homeless. Rich and poor alike. Men, women, young and old, even children and infants.

Love this photo, reminds me of a bloke called John I used to pass everyday. Lovely guy, had time for everyone. Used to talk to him a lot. Reminded me hard times can befall anyone.
Owns his own business now. Hope it worked out for this guy too
