Description
After Kirby saved Pop Star from the latest dark threat, Adeleine took advantage of the calm before the storm and headed to the outskirts of Green Greens. Its constant late-spring weather made a perfect subject to test her brush strokes for the occasion when she will be on hand to help out that little pink fluff ball again. Rather than paint other animals in case it comes to life and ruins the moment, a bit of scenic painting practice served the trick to refine her technique. She'll need to look out in case she accidentally makes a friend for Whispy Woods!

Previously, I expressed my doubts about hosting any more collabs due to college, but since I want to keep the club as active as possible, I've decided to take a different approach and host a zine, or a fan magazine with one entry per page. The theme will be Nintendo girls wearing casual outfits and doing peaceful/fun everyday hobbies. Sometimes, they have lives; all need a break from fighting enemies or getting kidnapped by creeps. So what's more fun than getting away from it all? Eat dessert, go to an amusement park, read books, write, cook, dance, go shopping, the sky's the limit!

The theme for this zine is a collection of images with female Nintendo characters 1) doing day-to-day things outside of their videogame role, and 2) wearing casual clothing. I opted to go for Adeleine from the Kirby series, mostly because I see artwork itself as particularly nice to do outside during good weather, and it gave me the perfect excuse to put her in a beautiful summer dress. It's also about time that I'd draw a Kirby character, with all the free selection of characters they had on previous collabs - they're just overall cute and have their own sense of charm

I stuck very close to Adeleine's canon clothing with this one, but obviously I made it feel much lighter around her body and gave more embellishments when needed. I even fitted in a crystal shard pendant as a Kirby 64 reference to signal arguably her most notable role in the entire series. Outside of the clothing design, I had way too many layers going into the background (not too surprised), but I can still be proud of the cute idea of using Procreate's default oil brushes to create this unfinished painting. Artwork within an artwork? I'd like to dabble in that more often.

Thanks for looking into this, and I'm so relieved I got this behemoth of a project done! Onto the next one, I guess? Haha.
