It had been a week and Gerard was at Mikey's house, sitting at his dining room table, they had just laid Nora down for the night. Gerard was clutching a cup of coffee as he looked to his little brother, he looked thinner than usual and like he hadn't been sleeping, Gerard was worried for him. "Mikey…when was the last time you slept?"

"I slept last night. It's just hard when I don't have Jake. Usually I can tell myself he'll be home in the morning or he should be any minutes. It's just weird without him," Mikey said softly before he sipped his coffee. Gerard nodded; he could see how it'd be hard to rest not knowing where the one you loved was.

The phone rang on the base and Mikey got up and answered it. "Oh," he said, seeming like he was nervous all of a sudden. "Oh yeah. I'm fine it's just…Yeah. I know but you have to wait," Mikey said in a low tone as he walked out of the kitchen.

He was in the living room, knowing Gerard must be overly curious. "I know you want to talk to him, Frank but you should wait. Surprise him. You got your ticket? Okay, when are you getting here? Five days, got it." Mikey couldn't help but smile wide. "Oh, God. I'm so excited! I'm getting goosebumps." He heard Frank laugh and knew Frank must feel exactly the same. "I'll be there to pick you up. Five o'clock. Got it. I'll see you then Frank. Call me if anything comes up," Mikey said with a smile as he had scribbled down the note with one of Nora's crayon's on her drawing pad, he ripped it off and put it in his pocket. "Bye Frank."

Mikey came back out into the kitchen, trying not to just bounce off the walls with excitement. He contained himself and sat at the table, sipping his coffee. "Who was that?" Gerard was sipping his own coffee with a very suspicious look on his face. Mikey shrugged like it was no one important before he took another sip of his coffee, hoping Gerard wouldn't be thinking badly of him. "You're acting a little insane lately," Gerard said with a soft smile on his lip.

"I know," Mikey laughed a little. He hated keeping secrets from people, especially ones he cared for. He would do his best to keep his mouth shut for five days. "You know…in five days one of my friends is flying in from California, Anna," Mikey rambled, making this up off the top of his head. It scared him how well he was at lying to people. "I was thinking you might want to come with me to get her. Nora will be spending the night at her friend Missy's house and it'll be just me here, so I thought I could use some company for the long drive to the airport. It is almost two hours away after all," Mikey said with a soft shrug, hoping Gerard would bite.

"Um…," Gerard seemed to be thinking. "That's Friday, I have the garage open until three," he had slightly lowered the hours since the doctor was still suggesting he take it easy. "Will you need to leave before that?"

"No that's perfect. Just go home and clean yourself up quickly and I'll be around to pick you up," Mikey said with a soft smile, so happy it was going to work out. "I normally wouldn't ask because Jake would go with me but you know," Mikey said, a small sad smile covering his lips.

"You know Mikey, I'm sure you two will work out just fine," Gerard said quietly before he reached his hand over and lightly gripped Mikey's hand with his.

"I know you're right. Somehow, Jake's been doing really well with everything. He's called me and we're working through it. I know it'll take a while for him to trust me again and I accept that, I understand. I just wish it all could have never happened. Nora's so confused with everything, Jake being away. I mean he picks her up and takes her out but it's not the same. You know how she asks questions," Mikey said with a small crooked smile as he ran his finger over the rim of his coffee cup.

Gerard did know. Nora had asked him many questions about why her daddy's were no longer staying in the same house. Why Jake was staying somewhere else. Why her daddy was sad all the time. Things that Mikey might even think he was hiding but she could see, she knew. "Soon enough he'll be back and it'll all be better," Gerard said with a small smile and then realized he had told himself the same thing about Frank, so many times. He looked down into his coffee with a bit of a frown.

"Frank?" Gerard looked up to his little brother who had asked the question. "Still miss him?"

"Every day," Gerard said quietly with a small frown on his lips. "I'm so scared that he's dead or that he moved on. Like…part of me has been scared to look for him because I don't know what I'll find. Imagine me finding him and he's now married to some woman with kids or something like that. I wouldn't…I wouldn't even know what to do. I've waited five years, Mikey," Gerard spoke so sadly as he held his cup in his hands, feeling the warmth through the glass.

"I'm sure he's still looking for you, still feels the same," Mikey said with a bit of confidence, knowing it was true.

"I know people probably think I'm insane. We didn't know each other that long; well I guess long enough for this connection but there was just…something about him. I don't want to say soul mates or something because that's just dumb but…I just...I never really felt anything for a guy, even a girl. The closest I ever got to a girl was Janet and even then…that didn't last. I mean there was, is just something about Frank that…I have to have him. He's the only one I can picture myself being with. I mean we went through things that couples of fifty years haven't been through and I want him by my side for that long, as long as we can be. I just…I'm still so in love with him and my heart aches everyday he's not with me. When I can't keep him safe, know he's safe," Gerard sniffed quietly and wiped under his eye.

Mikey reached across the table and held his brother's hand, something Gerard had done for him only moments ago. "You two will find each other and everything will work out. I promise you," Mikey whispered to his older brother. Gerard nodded his head with a small sniff and Mikey got up to hug his older brother, keeping him close and tight.

He knew the five day wait would be hard for him to sit through and he would just be tempted to drive and get Frank. He didn't want to make Gerard wait another second, he had waited long enough. He knew Gerard had waited longer than anyone should. Gerard had done so much for Frank when they had been together and Frank had done the same for him. The two had been ripped apart suddenly without warning, without the slightest hint the other would be gone the next day. Gerard had nearly nothing to remember Frank by, other than memories and Mikey wanted to change that. He knew he'd be able to soon enough.
