Description I created this painting during the project week at school. We experimented a lot with cocoa and chocolate, and for this I mixed cocoa with water and a bit ink like you can see in the foreground and painted with it like using watercolour (ok, it is a bit more difficult, because you can't work very fine with a darker/more cocoa colour...it gets viscous.) Ever tried it, too?
So here is an illustration of Γ‰owyn, Lady of Rohan, watching Edoras from afar.
Coffee will follow soon (Durin planned)!

I'm sorry for all the updates, it's so difficult to get the right colours, and it looks always different on my PC than on DA...just annoying.

Thank you very much! It was also a very interesting experience working with such an unusal material.

You have great depth in this piece. From the mountains in the background, Rohan in the middleground, to Γ‰owyn in the foreground. You did a good job with detail, which I can imagine being very difficult when painting watercolour (much more with cocoa).

Totally irrelevant, but now I want a cup of hot cocoa.Β

I'm really glad you like it! The details were actually just possible because of the painting's size. It is about 60x36cm/23.6x14inch. Smaller it would have been very complicated.

Haha, I totally understand what you mean...the problem painting the picture was, that the whole room smelled like cocoa, but there was nothing for eating or drinking...we just painted with water and the natural powder. It was really hard.

By the way, I guess I'll drink one now.

I love this! You did this by painting with Cocoa??? amazing texture work!

Your Lady Of Rohan is stunning in the flow of her robes... I could imagine a deep red to them if I look long enough and feel the wind around my neck as if I were really there with her.

The only criticism I can give on this piece is that the water needs a bit of definition and that there aren't any birds in the sky... it kind of gives an almost lifeless feel without them.

Other than that it is truly a masterpiece!

Thank you very much! I agree the water needs a bit more detail/flow. About the birds...I was really unassertive with the sky. It already took a while till I decided to add clouds. But I agree, it probably would make it more alive.

Vielen Dank!
