Description Self-Portrait as Henry VIII's seventh wife? This is my first pure digital rendering. Details were never completed at a more swift and efficient pace. Whether I'm going to attempt a colour version of the portrait is undecided.

Pretty sweet stuff, Danielle. I agree with Hunaid's point, the lighting of the pearls needs to be varied up to feel authentic. The portrait itself is awesome, as usual.

Thanks Rodway In the beginning (before I lost patience ), I set out painting each pearl individually. If I had continued instead of relying on duplication and rotation, perhaps they'd be resting against the skin more authentically. I might reattempt another rendering of the bottom row of pearls in the colour version. As for colours, I will be referencing Hans Holbein's portrait of Henry VIII's fourth wife, Anne of Cleves: [link]

Well, even if the pearls aren't painted individually, a little cast shadow against the neck would help to give them a little definition.

woah so cool. this looks almost identical to your traditional paint style. And you should totally colour it, it would be so easy and you can experiment with everysingle colourpalette in the worldd without risk. nice use of texture too.

Colour layering on greyscale, at least I find, ventures on appearing flat if not done properly. But altering the warmth of the greyscale to sepia works wonderfully with colour overlay. The visceral potential of textures amazes me and I will further explore ways on how to use them. They are a reality-driven vehicle in a painting. I was taught textures from a master, thank you

Been waiting for this one looks great!

the Pearls are coming off flat in some places, and the smaller ring looks like its cutting into your neck.

Thanks Hunaid! Yes, it does feel flat in a few places. At one point I demonstrated a hint of laziness in rounding the pearls.

I think the culprit really is the cut and paste. all the pearls look the same.
