Description trying out Marvelous designer on something which apparently is very simple - but MD had its problems with small elements to which the cloth tended to stick instead than overlay them. Also the obj exporter exported stuff I had made invisible - some got exported, some did not - no idea why so I needed to edit the obj. in C4D, removing all unwanted elements before I could use the avatars in MD.
Still - looks quite nice I think.

Rendered in DAZ - I am about to give up an reality because the rendertimes most often do not actually justify the end result. No postwork in this one except for the frame and signature. Lances done in c4d, dust and dirt are just planes.

Great tournement picture.Β  I am amazed you manage this without postwork.

I didn't want to do postwork, I was trying to see what was possible without. Sometimes the effort however, doesn't justify the endresult and ps would have done a better job easier.

Very nice work! I can't imagine owning Marvelous designer and C4D- both are so very very expensive! You did a great job on this image though. Β  Try Luxus maybe? It's a bit faster than Reality IMO.

I've tried it but it has got a problem with stuff I already used in reality. I also can't really get to grips with it the way I did with reality - might give it a shot again though.

This is an absolutely fantastic image. The composition, the poses, the sense of force with which the object collide - all amazing!

The only small nagging issue for me is the ground texture: too uniform and very clearly just a texture, not an actual ground: too little bump, no tracks, the grass is sticking out of it straight up, which would not happen with grass that's just around the fence poles: those stick up next to the pole and lie almost horizontal on the other side - like takes whatever space it can get and fits itself to it.

But what completely sells this image to me are the rocks: the ones floating just centimetres above ground: this would normally be a 3D error, but here it's the very opposite: it gives the sense of the ground shaking under those horses. Brilliant!

*grins* You're the first one to see them. I am glad this comes across that way. I agree about the ground - I think the next time I would try to set it up in vue - might actually do it to see how much of an improvement I can get. I think that should be possible.

Great job!Β  The cloth looks great, but there's one suggestion I have.Β  I'm not sure if you can do this in DAZ, but if you can add a displacement texture to the cloth you can get a much more realistic effect.Β  In some of my work, I've used a weave texture for this.Β  It's a really subtle thing, but it helps make the cloth look less flat and more like real cloth.Β  Great work, though.

I did use a bump to get a raised structure on the embroidery, but yes, this time I didn't use a texture for the cloth itself.

Yeah, I always use one of the cloth textures from cgtextures.com for any cloth that I do.Β  It just makes the shading a bit more realistic.

dang - never thought of looking there. I always make my own textures. Gotta check that out

Yeah it's just www.cgtextures.com.Β  If you sign up for a free account, you can get higher res versions of the images.Β  I use it all the time.

Thanks. I wasn't quite sure about the tent - but without it it lacks something. Trying a wider format and fog to see what happens and which version people like better.
