Often times when a piece of art wants to display scenery and light the artist will add something that humanizes it, perhaps so that the viewer can have a place to reside. The absence of said place really adds a lot to this piece I think, as it makes the strangeness stand out. There is a focus, but it matches the rest of the painting really well, so you get this mixed emotion of being wary of this place, as something about it feels dangerous or should I explore this place and see what else there is? Well done.
