Description
Autumn is here. The wheat is ready for harvest, the villagers will be getting ready for the winter.
The campaign against the Enemy is over, and we won. But at what cost?. Defending lines on a map, at the whims of kings and princes.

I really like the style and color palette, and you've expressed the emotion well.
It can be interesting when a scene ends up being different from what was originally envisioned. Sometimes, the characters want to tell a different story than we anticipated.

Hi there Nikki. Fantastic piece that really speaks about the impacts of combat on vets. The thousand yard stare, the expressionless face, being slumped forward in the saddle. Her mind is probably trying to resolve the horrors she has seen, the deaths she has caused, the life and death decisions she was forced to made. Perhaps she is even questioning her faith and trying to answer the hardest question of all. Why was she chosen to live while her while her friends or followers were not?

That's pretty much the way it is. Maybe the line stays the same, and the King is happy. But it's the soldiers that fight who pay the price.
