I recently read that it was voted like the most favorite Marvel cover ever by fans... McFarlane mentions it in his art book.

Could be, I wouldn't know, but no one asked me so how well spread was the election. Then again, it sounds like something Todd would say about his own work... (the original was his if I recall correctly).

very possibly. he does admit he gave that cover to the write of incredible hulk at the time... but again, take it with a grain of salt. Regardless, it's one of the most memorable covers. just start to describe it to someone who's collected comics and they know what you're talking about.

I still love all those special covers they used to do in the early 90's. Glow in the dark, sand feel, holograms, stances, presses, foils... Then again, I work as a designer.
As for classics, I still consider the X-Men death of phoenix and days of future past covers to be cool. They do get ripped too much though. I really couldn't tell what my favorite cover is though.

I think it's less of ripping off as much as it is a homage. That Days of Future Past cover is one of the all time greats. It's burned into people's minds, especially artists's minds. Not to mention it's incredibly applicable to a lot of character tandems. Also Giant Sized Xmen #1 is used a lot, and I think Art Adams may have used it several times. With using the Mcfarlane one here, it was specifically a commission, though, a very fun commission, and I can easily see why an artist would homage a favorite cover. In fact, Bill and I have talked about making a few prints based on our favorite covers. It is interesting at times to see on a cover "after" and not recognize the original piece and then having to google for it, so it's nice to see there are also artists who pay homage to covers they really like that are lesser known too.

Oh don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with homages to favorite covers. I just feel marvel itself is overusing various images in recent years. Keep up the good work.
