Description It was already midnight, and Altair was still busy writing his journal on Ezio's study in their villa in Monteriggioni. He was very intrigued and fascinated by where the Apple led him. He was warped in a time which is three or more centuries advanced to his. One thing is for sure, the place where his fellow Assassin said to be 'Italia' has a lot of story to tell, as the people were interesting and Altair found himself attracted once more, the same feelings he held for Adha, the Chalice, he felt the same feeling of longing and affection, but this time, he harbored this feelings not for a woman... but a man, in the name of Ezio.

Altair was maddened about the thought. His nights were corrupted by thoughts of tainted temptations and ravishing sights about Ezio. How could he fall for a charming and witty man like him? Even worse, could Ezio feel the same feelings for him? Altair hated the thought, but he loved the man. He hated to be bounded by these thoughts. He hated to feel weak. He hated to be vulnerable. It was wearing down his abstinence from lust and desire. But he reveled upon these thoughts... Thoughts of Ezio alluring him and drawing him closer, caressing his own body as they melted together in sheer passion... of lust and desire. That very thought sent shivers in his spine as he wrote these thoughts in his journal.

"It has been a week since I met Ezio, an Italian man of the fifteenth century who claims to be my descendant... and an Assassin... just like me. He said he admired my stories. Stories of my victory made possible through death, carnage, and gore... nothing else. I see the glint in his eyes when we talk about myself, and yet I found myself flustered as I see his face... his handsome face adorned with golden orbs like mine... a young growing beard on his face which I desired to touch... his chiseled features that I would want to caress... and his own trained physique that my body aches for... What would I do with these feelings? I thought after Adha... this part of me was already over."

"I am a man. And I hate it. I hate to feel weak. I hate to look vulnerable. I hate to be controlled by my feelings when I am in front of him. How can a man fall for another man? How will the people treat me, a dignified and respected Assassin, once they know that I love a man? I know he admires me, but does he truly feel the same way in the means I feel for him? I do not know. I do not 'dare' when there is no 'certainty'. I hate myself for admitting it... but I love Ezio. I love Ezio Auditore da Firenze... and any woman... or any man are no match to him. I swore to protect him with all my life. And if I have the chance, I will defy time, and live with him in eternity... in each other's embrace."

There, Altair finished his writing, and went to the spare room, Ezio gave him. He stripped off his robes and slept only with his pants on and slept cozily on the warm bed, forgetting to bring his journal with him as it was left open in Ezio's study.

The next day, Altair woke up with a ray of sunshine beaming at his face. There he went up in the bed, and pandiculated. He went to organize his hygiene first by taking a bath, and once he was done, he heard a knock on his door.

"Come inside." Altair said as he went on the terrace of his room, looking at the stunning views of Monterigionni basking in the sun's glow.

Ezio went inside of the room wearing nothing but a pair of pants and boots as he held on his hands a cup of coffee and two loaves of bread.

"Mio amico (My friend), you must eat before we before we hand to you the Apple we found... so you can return back in your time." Ezio said with a grin plastered in his face, but there was a hint of sadness and bitterness in his tone, in which Altair sensed.

Altair was stunned to see Ezio in front of him barechested. Was he tempting him? If so, it was clearly walking. The Syrian regained his composure as he sat on the chair with the table that has his meal. Ezio joined him as Altair ate his breakfast.

"Thank you, Ezio." Altair said.

Ezio noticed Altair's face has a slight pinkish hue about it. He was determined to find out what it meant.

"Signore (Mister) Altair, I would like to know more about you, si (yes)?" He asked with his captivating and baritone Italian accent which Altair secretly adored.

"Can the formalities, Ezio. We are brothers." Altair said as he sipped coffee from his cup. "Ask your questions."

Ezio was surprised to see how open Altair was. At first he was cold and apprehensive to be closer to him. But he warmed up to him all of a sudden, and not for long, they became close friends.

"Have you been in an intimate relationship, Altair?" He asked as he stared at him, adoring his tan skin and golden eyes.

"...No..." Altair only muttered as he was stunned by the question.

"Well, have you spent your nights with many women, and you know... lie with them?"

"...No... That kind of act... is frowned upon... back in my time." Altair said, slowly sipping his coffee to hide the flush in his face.

After all, why was he asking these questions?

"So you are a disciplined and composed man." Ezio said as he was shocked his ancestor had no romantic relations.

"I am." Altair replied as he caught his gaze onto the Italian's golden orbs. "I fell in love once... I never had the chance to tell her how I feel... when she was slain by a Templar... in front of my very eyes." He muttered, tears threatening to fall out. You could tell that this man's love was deep. Rarely did he showed such emotion to someone.

Ezio was surprised to hear what Altair said. He did had a romantic interest, but no longer. He was also surprised to see Altair, trying to hold back his tears.

"And yet... I fell in love with someone again, but I fear that person does not feel the same way for me... and we are ages apart." Altair said breathing in and out.

"Mi dispiace (I'm sorry), Altair. I never should've bought this discussion to you. My condolences for your... beloved... mio amico (my friend). " Ezio said as he tapped Altair's shoulders.

Altair has massive control over his emotions. Only a tear dropped from his eyes. After that, nothing more.

"It is alright, Ezio. We all have our problems. It feels great to release all of what is in your chest." Altair said as he gave Ezio a friendly hug as he patted his back.

"In that case, you are very welcome, mio amico (my friend)." Ezio replied as he hugged him back.

"Come. Let us go to the Sanctuary. The Apple is stored there so you could return back in your time."

Altair slowly nodded as the two went inside the Sanctuary. A place Altair has never seen before. He gazed upon the statues, especially the one that is sculpted in his image, fascinated. There, he saw Ezio, wearing his black Assassin robes.

"It feels different just by seeing my statue." Altair said as he gazed upon the marble sculpture of his image.

"This is where we honor the members of our Brotherhood, who guarded the freedom of humanity when it was most threatened." Ezio said as in his hands is the golden Apple of Eden. "Here, Altair. Know that our Brotherhood will remain strong as the years go by." He said.

"Thank you, Ezio, and your family as well, for sheltering me. I can live peacefully now... knowing that the Brotherhood will prosper in your capable hands. Safety and peace, my brother." Altair said.

"... I-I... On you as well." Ezio strugged as he replied when the Apple glowed and flashed a golden light which then dissipated Altair away.

Once Altair was gone, Ezio dropped on his knees on the floor, in grief for Altair was already gone.

Ezio's mother, Maria, and her sister, Claudia, was watching the whole scenario as they both ran to the crying man.

"I couldn't tell him... Mother. I failed. I was so consumed of my fear... I am so sorry." Ezio said as he hugged onto his Mother.

Maria just patted his back as Claudia grazed her hand over Ezio's head.

"It is alright, Ezio. You will find the Apple in our time and return to him... Do not cry, my darling." She whispered to her strong son, weakened by his emotions.

"I hope this makes you feel better... but I found this on your study, fratello (brother). Altair must've left it. Look." Claudia said as he gave his journal to his brother.

Ezio wiped off his tears as he read upon Altair's journal.

"Grazie, sorella (Thank you, sister)." He replied to Claudia.

There, a surge of tears came to him as he hugged his Mother tightly once more.

"He loved me too..." Was all Ezio muttered in his cries as he hugged Altair's journal deeply.

After all, Altair is a part of Ezio which makes him whole as much as he is to him.
