A bit of a reference sheet/abridged visual dictionary for my OC Seif, everyone's favorite mysterious bug man. It's very difficult to include every bit of relevant information so here's the stuff that matters most. Took two months to complete overall!

None of Seif’s acquaintances really know what his deal is, or really, anything about him at all beyond surface pleasantries. Only that he seemed to appear out of thin air one day and unwillingly draw the attention of all those of the gossip and rumor life style.

Up until around a decade ago, Seif used to work for a private law enforcement agency in America. For reasons he would never speak aloud, he left the agency and fled across the Atlantic, where he was taken under the wing of Chancellor Ion Brândușa of Cadence University through mysterious circumstances. In recent years has he emerged into the public again as a professor at said institute and it has been the topic of much chatter (and ridicule) among staff and students alike. It is there where he met his now-lifelong companion Gino, an adjunct professor in the university’s music department, and subsequently his sister Euphemia. He now considers them both family.

Otherwise, Seif grew up as an orphan. His parents were Syrian immigrants, but he was born in America. His mother died during childbirth due to an aneurysm in her brain and because of that, his father saw him as a cursed child and did not treat him with much love. At the age of four his father, a steelworker, died of cholera and he was left alone. In a few months time, he would be found on the doorstep of the Herșcu Place, where he would spend the rest of his childhood. He can't remember a single prominent thing about his biological parents.

i was talking to a moth
the other evening
he was trying to break into
an electric bulb
and fry himself on the wires

why do you fellows
pull this stunt i asked him
because it is the conventional
thing for moths or why
if that had been an uncovered
candle instead of an electric
light bulb you would
now be a small unsightly cinder
have you no sense

plenty of it he answered
but at times we get tired
of using it
we get bored with routine
and crave beauty
and excitement
fire is beautiful
and we know that if we get
too close it will kill us
but what does that matter
it is better to be happy
for a moment
and be burned up with beauty
than to live a long time
and be bored all the while
so we wad all our life up
into one little roll
and then we shoot the roll
that is what life is for
it is better to be part of beauty
our attitude toward life
is come easy go easy
we are like human beings
used to be before they became
too civilized to enjoy themselves

and before i could argue him
out of his philosophy
he went and immolated himself
on a patent cigar lighter
