Description tion.

They learn to run away.

Cone 10, 7x 4x3 -ish. I don't have it right in front of me to measure right now, it's in a show.

Potters are always hunting sponges and this one has figured it out. Now it runs for self-preservation. FEAR THE MIGHTY POTTERS! MWA HA HA HA!

This piece kinda' made itself, and I love it.

Here's a shot of the interior space. [link] The juror for earthworks picked the piece up, was very happy with the glaze, the motion of the piece, how light it was ("it is as light as it looks.") and then turned it over and exclaimed "Its glazed inside! Its not functional! It has no Bottom! Why was it glazed inside?!"

Then there was a pause as he looked, and then he said, "It adds drama to the piece."

XD Open jurying processes can be so much fun.

A needle tool, piercing each hole. I was watching BSG at the time...

Absolutely love that texture! I kept meaning to ask you about what glaze you used to get it (I've got a crawl glaze that does something a bit similar) and then I read the other comments are realised it was made by hand...

^_^ Yeah, the glaze on it is an oribe green wipped really really thin, but the texture... that was a good bit o' work. Its well worth the work though.

This really is my favourite of your pieces!

I love the way you have joined the legs....it has a kind of anatomical look to it. I could imagine it a some sort of special effects creature running around a sci-fi film

Thanks. ^_^ This one took a lot less time as I used the poking tool of doooom. Cut apart a cheep hairbrush to get four prongs.

Lol. ^_^ Yeah, but it looks so darn good when you're done with it. Besides, This time I had a four hole poking tool: I cut apart a cheep hairbrush. Still had to go through and make a ton of individual pokes, but the time was reduced 25%

I love the songieness (if that's a word. if it's not who cares?) and the shape. The glaze is really nice too. And those legs! Such beautiful legs!

Wow. I am not sure if you saw this at the chat section of DT, but a while ago Starburst posted a manga that invovled walking zombie fish. For whatever reason, I see this and remember the comic. It's actually quite unsettling. o.o

Frost-indri In reply to Flamorta [2007-04-18 13:22:38 +0000 UTC]

LOL! no, I'm afraid I missed that, I've been rather busy. Can you still get the link or do you remember the title of the topic in the forum?

Well FUN. >_<
I have you the wrong link for the actual DT page. Just hope that it doesn't get killed by stupid smilies.

It was the random picture forum.
So I'd have more luck finding the link. Hold on, I'm gonna have to do some massive time consuming searching right here.

[link] This right here was the first image of the beastie that I could find. The page that Star started to post the comic on is right here. [link] ostdays=0&ostorder=asc&start=1110

This is great. I has movement, personality, awesome texture, and your title makes it even better. I assume that it was Jeff Brown giving those comments at the public juried show?

Frost-indri In reply to lisaluera [2007-04-17 13:46:07 +0000 UTC]

Yep. He's a nice guy, actually. Really hung up on woodfiring, but at least he admits it. I wasn't able to go to the workshop with him, but my friends who did were pretty darn impressed by his throwing skills. Aparently he just sat there talking and answering questions by throwing pots as part of a paragraph. He's very much on the utilitarian/traditional potter side of things in his work, but he likes things that aren't very traditional too. I liked him.
