@StacyRaven

Is it sexist if its true? You can not gloss over history simply because you don't like it. Conan was a work of fiction yes, but in our own history women have been taken as spoils of war and still are. Hell the Northern European wedding tradition was to cross into neighboring villages, raid their land and steal their women this is the tradition from which our modern christian marriage ceremony still springs. Heck even the origin of Easter eggs was a way for northern European women to mark their availability for these bridal raids. Be more conscious of what you say and how it might be perceived or used in the future. What if we put a stop to all depictions or teaching of slavery? What we forget we are doomed to repeat. Don't come down on Dave for inking a piece that shows a popular fantasy character doing something you disagree with, put this same energy into reminding people that strong, capable and free women are here today whom are reasonable, fair minded, and willing to fight oppression in the right venue, not hassling some poor guy here on DA in his depiction of a fantasy character. Bring your strength to the fight for those whom are still oppressed, sign petitions, go to protests, give money to politically minded charities, start a letter writing campeign to the people at Disney, adopt a girl in a third world country to save her from genital mutilation and child bride slavery. Let Conan be what he is a 70's archetype pointedly called a BARBARIAN. Choose your battles more wisely.

Dave, fabulous fucking piece man I've been trying to find this pose for years.

I find the title of this piece quite sexist. Women are not objects or trophies. Though the image is done quite well, the title, IMO drags the entire piece down into the mud.

It's the character, Stacy. There's nothing you can do about it, that title was a very popular one for Conan. If you go back to that time frame, while maybe over exaggerated in comics and the movies, to men women were trophies. They fought over a women, killed over a woman, and sometimes even stole women. Not only 'barbarians' but normal people as well. Then you look at the vikings, who plundered and took whatever they wanted, even women. I don't think this artist meant any harm, the title is the character. In that time frame and to this character, women were trophies, the dude had a HAREM of women sometimes.

Northmen (including Vikings) actually respected their women.

Women portrayed as things and objects happens every day, heck, in the comic industry it's pretty much the standard. But that doesn't mean that images that portray women as THINGS to be had after war, glorifying that, is not disturbing and wrong (just my opinion). Yes, I'm sure that the artist didn't mean anything by it, but that doesn't mean that one should be ok with the glorification of it, again MY OPINION. Males and people who've never experience the kind of violence that happens against women every day do not seem to see, know,(and often don't care) that images like this seem to glorify the treating of women as THINGS. Again, that is likely not the artists intention, but that doesn't negate the fact that images like this (well the title of "The spoils of Victory" in particular and what it implies) can be harmful. I get that it's Conan and an established world where this is the norm, but that doesn't mean the glorification of it can't be questioned.
