Ash's POV

"I'm zhorry I didn't come to jou zhooner." Dixie spoke honestly, her soft eyes watching Ash and Sirius closely. "As zhoon as Andre told me, I knew jou would need to know." She finished, her thick French accent bleeding through her words.

Ash and Sirius both exchanged a silent look between themselves before turning back to their trusted member. "Thank you for letting us know, Dixie." Sirius began, his deep voice calm and collected, as it always was. "Ash and I will discuss this and address the pack soon. For now, please keep this to yourself." He finished, dipping his head towards her.

  "Of course." She replied, nodding back to him and taking her leave.

Ash watched the tan and cream spaniel walk out of their room and listened for her careful steps down the stairs before turning to the black and tan shepherd. Ash bit her lip, a flutter of anxiety creeping up her chest. Dixie had just alerted them that Andre, her son, had heard from Todd, who had heard from a Vryheid dog that there had been some sort of split in the pack. According to their information, a member of Vryheid had attacked Koa and nearly half of those sewer rats had gone with the traitor, presumably to establish some new sort of pack.

Ash peered into the green eyes of her dear friend and lover, silence falling between them. Where do we even begin?

  "What are your thoughts?" Sirius was the first to break the quiet. His voice was gentle, but Ash could sense the tension beneath his words. After their last battle with the Vryheid, Dagsworth had steered clear of any and all interaction with that awful pack. Sirius had been permanently scarred in the battle, and his hind limb had never fully healed. Though they were all doing better than they had in a long time, Ash knew that night haunted Sirius and many of her packmates. Her eyes fell upon the jagged scars that rippled across his handsome muzzle. They would not be quick to leap at the chance to re-visit their enemy.

  "I'm not sure...." She replied, hesitating before continuing. Ash furrowed her brows downward as she focused. "We need to tell Dunkle." She replied, "We shouldn't do anything without consulting Madison first. We also can't be sure of how true this information is if it came from a Vryheid dog." She finished. Though Ash had come to trust and rely on Dixie, as the two worked closely together, the information had come from several dogs before it reached their ears. The fact that Todd was even interacting with this strange enemy dog was bizarre in its own right. Though the Saluki hadn't participated in any of the previous battles, there were plenty of reminders and stories to be told that should warn off any Dagsworth dogs from knowingly interacting with Vryheid.

  "What are you thinking?" She asked, pulling herself from her own thoughts.

Sirius took a moment before answering. "I agree with you. We'll send message to Dunkle and request a meeting with Madison, we're overdue a visit anyway." He replied, his eyes clouded with thought. Ash watched him closely as he seemed to be chewing on his next statement. "...We may need to intervene with Todd." His tone darkened as he continued, tension rolling off the male in waves. "We cannot have our pack compromised by an Omega's stupidity if he truly is speaking with a Vryheid dog- traitor or not."

Ash allowed a small sigh to escape her chest. He was right. They had suffered much at the hands of the Vryheid, and it was foolish to let this information go. For all they knew, Todd's "friend" could be a spy. "Let's announce this information to the pack and then we'll talk to Todd." She replied, her brown eyes searching his green.

Sirius nodded his agreement and stood. Though Ash had grown accustomed to his sloped stance, she couldn't help but eye his crutched leg now. The battle with the Vryheid had happened long ago, but the scars, injuries, and nightmares had followed the Dagsworth dogs even now. She blinked back to Sirius's handsome muzzle. They would not allow the Vryheid to do that again, and if these rumors were true, it sounded like they may be collapsing from the inside out, like a dead, rotten corpse, bloated with rot and ready to explode.

Sirius's deep voice pulled the stabyhoun from her own thoughts. A gentle smile on his maw, his eyes tired. "Hey, wanna finish breakfast before the next chapter of hell breaks loose?" He asked, a dry chuckle following his question. Though nothing about their new situation was funny, Ash understood the laugh. It was simply ridiculous that the pack just never quite caught a break.

  "Sure," She replied, a smile growing on her lips as the two dogs walked side by side towards the door. There was a lot to be done, but, some things could wait until after breakfast.

Summary: After Geronimo's betrayal, word has gotten out that the Vryheid have been split. Diesel, a former Vryheid dog who has fallen in love with Todd, a Dagsworth dog, broke away from the Grand Chien to tell his starcrossed lover the news. After the gossip floated around Dagsworth for a few days, it finally found its way to Ash and Sirius via Dixie. Ash and Sirius have decided that they must send a message to the Dunkle Schicksal and ask for a formal meeting so they can discuss the new events and decide on a plan of action. Additionally, they've decided that they must sit down and talk to Todd to find out why he's been hanging out with a Vryheid dog and put an end to it.

Whoo hoo! We have the plotline moving forward again after the brutal battle between Geronimo and Koa! It seems the Dagsworth have stumbled on some gossip, and while they don't know about the Chien yet, it is only a matter of time before they find out the truth behind the rumors floating around. What will they end up doing? How will their future meeting with Madison go? When will they find out about the Grand Chien? Only time will tell!
