Arthropod. Originally named Gearshift. He was working with Shockblast (totes OC) underground as a surgeon and genetic expert. When a recruit hauled Packrat into his lab it was like Christmas. He dissected the poor mutant to see how the little mech was able to manage housing both bipedal and animalistic genes without turning into a complete monster. When the research was completed, he performed surgery on himself to turn into an Arachnicon, then changed his name because who the hell ever heard of a sinister spider-mech named Gearshift?
Now, after the whole posted story, Arthropod went into the Pits as an upgrade provider for gladiators. Shockwave found him later on during the war and the two of them went nuts with genetic research. How else would Shockwave know how to bring back a freaking dragon-former from a fossil? Arthropod taught him well, that’s how. And I’d also like to think he’s the reason for Airachnid’s design when she was fitted to control the Insecticon hive. Also a headcanon: Insecticons don’t follow orders worth a shit unless they have a queen to tell them to do it. Airachnid became that queen.
What happened to Arthropod later on? Hell if I know.
