House Auvry'und - Blood of the Spider's Kiss
House Auvry'und is a new and quickly growing house in Menzoberranzan. It has already overcome many lesser houses, rising in status much faster than any house has in recent memory. It is considered to be favored by Lolth at the moment, so many other houses seek association and business with it. The family is notable for its slightly curly hair and long ears. They have established extensive trade with outside cities and are even rumored to have contacts above ground. If there is something you need, House Auvry'und has an exclusive monopoly on being the family to get it. And contracting another under such circumstances often has disastrous outcomes for such expeditions (though nothing has been officially pinned on the family).

Shri'inil Auvry'und - Lady of Silk (center, in chair)
Shri'inil Auvry'und is the matron and leader of the house. She is well known for her beauty, her silver tongue, and her sharp whip wit. A High Priestess of Lolth, she is quite devote to her goddess, and keeps firm and unyielding control of all her growing family. She makes a point to keep all affairs intensely private, instilling great family pride and unity behind tightly closed doors. She believes many houses fall because the family holds no loyalty to its own members, and so from birth she guides her children to absolute unbending obedience to her. She is cool headed and clever, often withholding more than she gives. She does not take unnecessary risks, and has position enough to avoid dangerous enterprises for her business. She revels in keeping her allies and enemies on their toes, and is unrelenting and one-minded in her pursuit of her goals.

Akorae Auvry'und - First/Beloved Dancer (standing right to matron)
Akorae is the first born of Shri'inil. She followed in her mother's footsteps to priesthood, greatly excelling in the worship of the goddess. She inherited her mother's intense focus, but has a much hotter temper than the Matron. Many slaves, animals, and even other drow have suffered her wrath from accidentally raising her ire (which is a very easy feat). She is cruel and inventive when exacting her specific brand of justice. Though she is more bull-headed than her mother and will argue with her if she disagrees, she remains fiercely loyal to her and her siblings. As the eldest, she takes it upon herself to be her mother's eyes and hands when it comes to directing and punishing her younger family members. Luckily for them, she spends most her time at Arach-Tinilith, exacting her temper on unlucky acolytes.

Laelfryn Auvry'und - Iron Champion/Weapon of Iron (standing left to matron)
Laelfryn is the second born of Shri'inil. An accomplished warrior, she heads most of the battle and guard affairs of the house. She is much less outspoken than her older sister, having inherited their mother's cool headed nature. Clever and well versed in all aspects of warfare and tactics, she lacks patience for verbal manipulation and political meandering. Like her sister, her fury is hot and wicked when brought to burn, but she reserves such anger only for those who blunder her intricate tactics. Due to her exceptional talent at planning and design, she is often in charge of making sure competitors fail while her own house remains out of the line of suspicion. Because of her quiet and cool-headedness, her younger siblings are often paired with her when their usual attendants were needed elsewhere. Though she mostly ignores them, she had a secret fondness for them, especially her brother, though she'd never admit as much. Like all her family, she is fiercely loyal to her mother.

Wod'ryndor Auvry'und - Bold Blooded Artisan (male crouching to far right)
Third born and currently the only male child of house Auvry'und, Wod'ryndor (or "Wod" as Laelfryn calls him) excels at more quiet and manipulative crafts. He too attended Melee-Magthere and became incredibly efficient with knives and daggers as well as the art of poison and assassination. Though classed lower in the hierarchy due to his gender, he has proven a valuable member to the family. He is clever and stealthy, with a quick wit and a biting sarcasm (which has gotten him into trouble with Akorae more than once). Had he not been the most fiercely loyal to his mother of all his siblings, Bregan D'aerthe and other mercenary groups would have paid handsomely for him to join their ranks. As it stands, he is his mother's most doting child, and would do anything she asked without the slightest hesitation. He works closely with his sister Laelfryn, helping execute her more delicate assignments with the efficiency and expertise of a drow twice his age. His mother treats him better than most Matron's do their sons, but still favors her daughters first, which often causes Wod to try all the harder to please her.

Ulvirdiira Auvry'und - Golden Sister (younger female to left of matron)
Still young, Ulvirdiira has just begun her training at Arach-Tinilith. She is a mischievous prankster, always messing with her siblings or tricking them to get them into trouble. Even though she is very young, she is obviously very intelligent and crafty, and seems to be gifted with her mother's silver tongue. She is vastly different from her other siblings, and when not pranking them, she prefers to be by herself. Her mother quickly learned not to leave the nasty child with her younger sister, as Ulvirdiira tortured the girl relentlessly. When alone, Ulvirdiira prefers reading and practicing the few new techniques she picked up. She is a devoted student and a fast learner, and her natural inclination towards magic promises a great future for her.

Dirzafay Auvry'und - Dream Eyes/Eyes of Dreams (female child sitting to right of Matron)
The youngest family member of Auvry'und (though only for now, because Shri'inil doesn't intend to stop just yet), Dirzafay is incredibly endearing. She can disarm and charm any drow she meets and is quite clever for her age. Her mother is still debating her future profession, though of course she'll start at Arach-Tinilith. It is a distant concern at the moment however. Dirzafay is usually with her mother, being that she is too young to be left alone and would be in the way of her busy elder siblings.

Relon'dan Auvry'und - Wind Strider (leaning male to far left)
Relon'dan is the weapons master and accomplished graduate of Melee-Magthere. He was Shri'inil's first partner, and is the father of her first three children (and possibly of Dirzafay). He has a smoldering temper that he usually just barely keeps in check from careful discipline, one which Shri'inil loves to tease and test. He is deadly with daggers and short swords, preferring sneakier methods of engagement rather than attacking his opponent's head on. Though he tends to be cold and off-putting, he is a fiery elf underneath his stoney exterior. He is fiercely jealous of other males who might seek to take his hard won position within the new house. He has great ambitions for a male, but is loyal to Shri'inil (a carefully built loyalty the female constructed to her own benefit). He would see the house rise to the first house position. Since the arrival of Xuntar, he has often pointedly pursued Shri'inil and has successfully seduced her more than once since her new partner came to light.

A newcomer to the house, Xuntar is a graduate of the Tower of Sorcere, and was chosen by Shri'inil specifically for his magical aptitude. He is wicked by nature, greatly enjoying manipulating others and causing pain. He is very primal, acting on his base desires with little restraint. He is vastly intrigued by the intelligent and crafty Shri'inil, and is easily seduced and manipulated by her flirtatious and physical allure. Luckily for others, this particularly evil drow is not very good at fore-thought and planning, and often is out-smarted by others. Though he is naturally very powerful, his faults come from his inability to quell his natural impulses. He is almost assuredly the father of Ulvirdiira, but it is uncertain to most of the family if Dirzafay is his as well. His standing within the family is shaky, as he has yet to prove any sort of loyalty that the Auvry'unds so covet.

G'eld - Friend/Spider (...the spider...)
G'eld is an old spider who was pet to all the Auvry'und children at one point or another. Right now he accompanies Ulvirdiira, and though she pretends the giant tarantula annoys her, often time she enjoys his company when she studies alone. He is magically gifted with some intelligence and an elongated life. He understands simple instructions and seems to display some emotional reactions. However, the past few decades seem to set him in a more senile state of mind, and he is found bumping into walls more often than not.

THIS TOOK FOREVER. And there's no point to it! It was just for fun!!! *headdesk* I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Though I might have started rushing things towards the end when I was shading and such, because the end was in sight and I've been working on this for two days. I didn't use any references for anatomy, so there are a few issues here and there, but overall I had a lot of fun working on this, and am very excited with the end product. I love learning about new cultures, and I feel like the drow culture could definitely be more explored. I have so many questions about it, and if I can't find answers, I'm liking to make my own. For example, how does a male drow behave around his daughter when she is still a child? Before she becomes bossy and dominating, perhaps before she can even talk? Are mothers affectionate when their children are young? Do fathers take on a more "mothering" role, i.e. childrearing and such? How often can a female become pregnant? If she doesn't want to become pregnant, do they have charms for that? Spider-silk condoms? (LOL!) Are there marriages? How does a Matron find a suitable male? I HAVE THESE QUESTIONS AND SO MANY MORE. Perhaps I shall explore answers in later drawings. This family should be fun to exploit I think, and I do believe Shri'inil will have one more child, another boy (perhaps twins?) before she is done. It was fun writing names and personalities for all of them. I think G'eld will be a source of much entertainment in the future (heh heh heh).
