I like this photo. The cardinalidae is perfectly in focus, despite the short depth of field, which is useful because it provides some background to the image.
One thing that lets this image down is that the bckground is a reddy-brown. The background itself is fine, but I feel that you could bring far more emphasis to the cardinal if you were to adjust the background colour to a more bluish hue.
I like the framing of the image, however. The fact that the focus, the Cardinal, is slightly off-centre is a good feature. The Cardinal's colours, too, are excellent. There is lots of contrast on its feathers, adding depth to the image.
I should add in here that the dA watermark is one of my pet hates. It is quite possibly the easiest way to make an otherwise nice image simply average. I would recommend a personal watermark, something a little less invasive, but still marks the image as yours.
Overall, this photo has a lot of potential, but is let down by the background colour and watermark. A few minor tweaks would do it justice. Despite this, It has an excellent subject, is well-framed, and is overall an excellent photo.
