Well... I don't really remember anymore. *laughs* I'm guessing that I was more just worn out from school and testing and getting emotionally ready for my friend's wedding, etc etc... I was kind of worked up the first half of April. ... Or rather I was until a few days ago, the levels just varied. Now it's almost vacation, so everything is glorious now. ^__^

Haha, I kind of thought that it looked about the right size for a desktop background. XD Anyway, I'm very glad you like it!

Yeyness! Some of the art nouveau stuff has really intrigued me in the past, so I'd really like to do a piece that is actually like that sometime. But maybe I'm even getting ahead of myself. XD
I'm very happy that you like it, and that you got the air you did. I was really hoping to get a "relaxed" sort of atmosphere to it, regardless of some of its fussiness. ^^

I actually found a picture of old paper on google... *laughs*. Then I messed with the color balance, saturation, contrast, etc etc until I was happy with it. I am sadly rather lazy...

I did try to make it look like a painting! T__T I flattened all the colored layers and then put the opacity down to 85%... when I did more than that, all the detail on her face disappeared. *sigh* And I have thought about putting something in the top left corner, but I couldn't find a leaf brush that worked with the style of the rest of the picture. I might go back and find something.... then I can add my watermark, too.
At least your suggestions were things I had been thinking myself! ^__^

Nonono, it's fine! I was just getting tired so and I am not used to uploading brushes, so after a while I just had to say "enough! Bedtime!"
I thought that you didn't like computer programs though. I really like computer programs because I can avoid the problems of making mistakes like that. Although I still make mistakes in the lineart... *sigh*
*huuug* I don't mind crap talk. XD

I like computers, but the things I hold dear, like pictures or stories, I want to hold in my hands, to be sure. And I have no inspiration with a blinking cursor in front of me. I have to feel the pen and the paper under my hands to get it done.^^

I agree... I can't draw on the computer. >_< I always have the pencil sketches or the inked versions of my pictures that I scan and then color on the computer. I think it would be nice to have real copies of my pictures... but then I would be afraid that water would get on them or they would get torn... or lost... or stained... or crumpled... *sigh* Computer or traditional, there are always problems! *laughs*

Feyval In reply to Frotu [2008-04-13 07:41:37 +0000 UTC]
The problem is not the computer or traditional... you misorganized your nutrition! xD *random crap*
The problem is to let go: what we created we want to keep. You know what the japanese people do to their temples? they are all made of wood, and every 100 years or so they are torn down and rebuild completely. We run around with cameras when we are on holiday and depend on those pixels to save our memories, therefore our mind makes no effort to remind the view and the scenery. We watch the screen and not the nature. I try to keep the attitude, that everything I make is not for keeping, but only the making itself is sensible. If DA shall burn down and my room and all is gone, that's no great problem.^^
But... I would be angry to spill tea on a picture >_< that would be not fate, but stupidity. I keep pictures in files.

Yes, that is a good point. Isn't there something in the Silmarillion where somebody is told not to love the work of their hand too dearly? For some reason I think it has to do with Gondolin, but it has been five years since I read the Silm, so I could be wrong!
We visited the shrines at Ise when they were taking a new log to where the new shrine would be built. I thought it was an interesting concept, and definitely worth considering. I think you are correct about memories, to a point. When I was in Japan, I think I took over 600 pictures. But... they were not all just for memory. Much of it was to show my friends and family at home. That is maybe the biggest reason why I take pictures -- I want to be able to show somebody else what I experienced. I want to be able to share. Although it does perhaps make my memory a bit lazy... XD

Feyval In reply to Frotu [2008-04-14 16:24:00 +0000 UTC]
yes, it was about Gondolin. Ulmo told Turgon not to love the work of his hands too much, but he didn't listen, and Gondolin was destroyed.
yes, pictures are very handy to show around where you have been, that's true. But I wonder how the people told about their journeys when there had been no cameras. They described. And our society is glued to the screen. We usually do not make long sentences with complex structures, and there are few people who would understand us if we did. I am not against pictures, but screens are a dangerous medium, and we are not taught properly how to handle it critically and careful.

Yes, well, society went to hell in a handbasket when MTV came out. That's when everybody got attention spans the length of those goldfish have. *sage nod* It's sadly true... it was discussed in one of my classes.
I really enjoy hearing about your views on the world and how we live... they are very refreshing! It is nice that other people enjoy storytelling and description still.
Oh, and you must check this picture again. I added some of the stuff we talked about. ^^

I'm happy that it looks better now! I've never studied art, so I don't actually know about the Asia motives... but that's pretty neat if I managed to almost get them!
Well, I think you do a good job about being honest, and I think it's very good. It is true that few people do it, although I do suppose there must be a line that is drawn somewhere. To be too blunt is actually a form of antisocial behavior -- you can't really get along with everybody if you tell the complete truth all the time. We discussed this in my child development. But I definitely think that you speak very genuinely, and your efforts are definitely working well!
