Weeeell, I've wanted to make a picture of Faramir and Eowyn since like... forever, probably. They were pretty much my first ship, back before I even knew what ships were. XD Fun times.So yeah.
This really didn't turn out the way I wanted it to (bahahaha background trees). But I like her hair.

I really like your style of artistry. It reminds me of old Disney movies like "Robin Hood" and "The Black Cauldron" but also of classics like "The Princess and the Goblin." I think it's the soft colours and the glowing lighting--makes it look like it's a painted cell of glass. The hair--yes, fantastic! I also love Eoynn's thin circlet of gold for a crown and that she's wearing pink and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. Shieldmaidens can wear pink too. I also like that Faramir has that rugged 4-o'clock shadow. People sometimes forget that he was a ranger for the longest time so I think that other than when in the presence of Denethor, he probably didn't make a habit to shave every morning. Or maybe it's a side effect of being descended from Numenor (longer lifespan = your beard comes in later). I love the detail too, the patterns on the hems of their garments. And such pleasant expressions! Enjoying a walk in their beloved home, no doubt.
I, too, loved this pairing before I even knew what ships were. I love that their kiss on the high wall was the exact moment that the ring dropped into Mordor. How they compliment each other and rejoice in the other's differences. Little things like that.
Since you like Faramir, it might interest you to know that Tolkein didn't originally intend to write him into the story. Tolkein was a planner, so it really surprised him when this 'Faramir' character popped up in his head as a little brother for Boromir. He wrote to his son about it, telling him he wasn't at all sure about this 'Faramir' but he'd try him in the story a little to see how things went. At the end of writing the book, he told someone that of all the characters he created he felt he was most like Faramir except he wasn't brave like Faramir was.

I am such a HUGE "Lord of the Rings" fan, and it sucked in the third movie that they didn't add Faramir and Eowyn's budding romance. Thank you for posting this!

I felt rather ripped off in the movie, but could at least try to console myself that they would treat it properly in the extended version, so it uber sucked when even that left a lot to be desired! *sigh* Ah well... I suppose that is why there are things like fanart to try to pick up the slack. I'm really glad you like the picture!

Faramir and Éowyn are definitely my favourite characters and their relationship is beautifully portrayed in the book. And this drawing is so gorgeous!

I think their relationship was my favorite part of that whole series. It was just this soft, beautiful little thing in a huge epic. I loved it.

Thank you very much! I was not sure what I thought of this picture when I had finished it... the coloring style is a little different from my norm, but I am happy that so many people have enjoyed it. I really loved their story in the book, so I'm glad I was able to capture at least a little bit of that.

Yes, they are. At least in the extended edition, they have a few scenes together, but nowhere near as many as Aragorn and Arwen. :/ No problem!
