Description

Now that I'm back on track with my fan-based projects, I think its about time for a brief rundown as to what's been going on. Whenever I got around to scripting Driven to Madness, I kept getting stuck. No matter how much fun it was for the dialogue, I could not for the life of me stay on one track with the plot and it wasn't really hitting me like the others. Something about the way it was written and the steps it takes to get to the end just rubs me the wrong way and I feel like I could do better if it was written a bit different. At the very least I did manage to get to the midway point before the final few chapters, which took me way longer to make for what should've been a brief miniseries to go along with Dust and the Sweeper, only for Dust and the Sweeper's first two acts to be completed way in advance and we're already on Venomous Syndicate with Toon Wars Legacy.

I also couldn't decide whether or not I wanted it to be more of a psychological horror or a mind-numbing adventure with psychological elements sprinkled in from time to time. At the very least, for all the projects I've written over the years, I'm kinda glad it's this one that has me stumbling since it's not meant to be a huge story and it isn't required to understand future works. Truth be told, this isn't quite the first time this has happened to me since Beyond Super also had me fumble with the writing and I wound up rushing it. That's obviously not something I wanna do again, so I'm gonna try and start over.

Initially, my plan was to effectively scrap the project altogether and replace it with a completely new story. But I might have a different approach in mind that keeps the plot and cast intact and runs identical to the original version, albeit with a different style. Think of how Sly narrates each episode or the infamous Epistole 3 written by Gordon Freeman himself. I have no clue how I can salvage 90% of the dialogue that's already there, but I'll figure it out sooner or later once I get the plot going again. In the meantime, the current version of Driven to Madness is going to be labeled as "Old" so people don't get confused when I start posting again. I really, REALLY wanna do the characters justice, so don't worry. I'm not giving up on them. Just gonna tell the story in a different style.

Other than that, Venomous Syndicate's next chapter will be coming again soon with complete illustrations. But you can read the story's completed chapters ahead of time on Fanfiction.net ^^ We're currently on Episode 6, and Episode 7 will be coming out shortly. So stay tuned for that if you happen to watch me on FF, and hold tight for the next illustrated episode here on Deviantart, A03, and Wattpad.
